Postdoctoral Fellow-MSH

United StatesFull-timePosted Aug 30, 2022

Roles & Responsibilities:

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the new laboratory of Dr. Liheng Wang, at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

Dr. Wang is looking for postdoctoral candidates with strong skill sets in metabolism, biochemistry, cell biology and the enthusiasm to establish a highly collaborative, friendly team. The ongoing research in Dr.Wang’s lab focus on the transcriptional regulation of hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism in the context of type 2 diabetes (T2D), obesity and Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). Combining DNA pulldown and mass spectrometry techniques, they have discovered several new transcription factors that potentially regulate hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism. They will further explore the functions of these transcription factors on the transcriptional regulation of liver metabolism, to explore and understand the underlying mechanisms at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and physiological levels, and eventually to develop efficient and safe interventions for preventing and treating metabolic diseases. Her recent publications include Cell Metabolism, Journal of Hepatology, Journal of Clinical Investigation etc (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/1jCqszge5p3kN /bibliography/public/). The common technologies used in the lab include transgenic mouse models, human genetics, metabolic studies, stem cell biology, next generation sequencing, and a variety of molecular and cell biology techniques. Her group will work collaboratively with other groups in Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism Institute (DOMI) and other divisions at Mount Sinai, as well as other universities in New York City (e.g. Columbia University, Weill Cornell, Albert Einstein School of Medicine). For further information, please contact Dr. Wang (liheng.wang@mssm.edu).

Requirements:

Laboratory:

• Adapt and apply methods to study hepatocyte glucose and lipid metabolism in vitro and in vivo.
• Apply methods/new techniques to investigate the molecular mechanisms on transcriptional regulation, signaling transduction and pathogenesis of T2D and NAFLD.
• Work with other team members to manage animal colony.

Data management:
• After training, responsible for data management and sharing for the project.
• Working with other team members to maintain and update data storage.

Administrative:
• Participate in internal and external meetings and conferences related to project.
• Work with team members to ensure protocols and resources are generated, shared and updated in a timely fashion.
