Location: Mission Regional Medical Center, Mission TX 

 

We are seeking a Surgical RN, a registered nurse who will work in our Ambulatory Surgery department. As a Surgical Nurse or Operating Room Nurse, you will specialize the care of patients undergoing surgical procedures in a surgery center. Their responsibilities will be for intraoperative care of the surgical procedure. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Responsibilities

**If you are a Registered Nurse with experience in the Operating Room (OR) or Surgery you are encouraged to apply! 

  • Conduct pre-procedure assessments to evaluate patients' medical histories, current conditions, and any potential risks associated with the procedure 
  • Prepare the operating room, which may include setting up equipment, positioning devices, medication, specimens, and/or implants  
  • Transfer and position the patient on the operating table, ensuring safety and comfort of the patient 
  • During the procedure, assist the healthcare provider by preparing the patient, organizing supplies and equipment, and providing support as needed, they may also prepare local anesthesia or medications as directed by the provider 
  • Maintain knowledgeable of each phase of the peri-operative process and perform safe patient care throughout the entire peri-op patient experience 

 

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • PALS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Previous acute care hospital experience; preferred.
  • Moderate Sedation competency completed within 30 days upon hire.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
