Marketing Technician

The Marketing Technician is responsible for producing high-quality flooring system samples that support sales and customer needs. This role involves preparing, mixing, and applying flooring materials according to established procedures while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to operate tools and equipment safely, and collaboration with team members to meet production schedules. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment while handling materials up to 50 pounds. Experience with coatings, flooring systems, or construction products is preferred.

Additional Information:

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Samples Department Facility located at 95 Goodwind St., East Hartford, CT 06108, and will have about 10% travel. 

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and business relationships.

  • Follow safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and workspaces clean, organized, and in good working conditions on a daily basis.
  • Adhere to established production processes, quality standards, and schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership regarding production status, material needs, and quality concerns.
  • Safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and operate equipment such as radial arm saws, grinders, and sanding machines.
  • Demonstrate strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail in sample production.
  • Prepare, mix, and apply flooring materials according to approved formulations and standard operating procedures to create custom and stock samples.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, supplies, and sample components, and notify leadership when replenishment is needed.
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure materials and finished samples meet established standards.
  • Provide technical support and assist in training team members as needed.
  • Comply with company policies, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Team Leader/ Manager.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Safely operate power tools and production equipment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

 

Additional Skill & Experience:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Physical fitness to lift and maneuver heavy materials.

  • Basic computer literacy (email, inventory management, file handling).

  • Experience working with coatings, flooring materials, or construction products is preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted drivers license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to travel as required for this position.
