LEAD QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR - EL SEGUNDO, CA

As a Lead Quality Control Inspector, you will perform detailed inspections of parts, assemblies, and aircraft installations to verify compliance with Skyryse quality requirements, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality clauses. You will document inspection results, communicate findings, and drive continuous improvement across our inspection processes. You will also provide day-to-day guidance to our inspectors, coordinate workload against production and program schedules, and serve as the shop floor authority our Manufacturing and Engineering partners turn to when conformity is on the line. This is a full-time onsite opportunity based out of our El Segundo, CA HQ.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform independent visual and dimensional inspections of components and assemblies across receiving, in-process, source, and final inspection to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and Skyryse quality clauses.
  • Inspect mechanical assemblies, soldering, coatings, and finishes, and verify installation of fasteners including torque, rivets, and sealants.
  • Perform and review first article inspections in accordance with AS9102.
  • Witness acceptance test procedures and review the resulting test records.
  • Review supplier documentation and inspection records against purchase order requirements and Skyryse quality clauses, and interface with suppliers to resolve quality concerns.
  • Generate accurate and complete inspection records and assemble the conformity document packages that support them.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming material, initiate nonconformance reports in Jira, and lead the initial assessment and clarification of each finding through to escalation or closure.
  • Support Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DARs) and Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) during conformity inspections, and provide objective evidence for FAA, customer, and AS9100 audits.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance to inspectors, including onboarding and training new team members on standard work, AS9102 requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate inspection priorities and balance team workload against production and program schedules.
  • Audit inspection records completed by team members for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Skyryse procedures.
  • Identify trends and recurring issues, and drive improvements to inspection methods and standard work.
  • Partner with cross functional teams including Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Engineering.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of quality inspection experience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or day-to-day guidance to other inspectors, formally or informally.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including notes, features, tolerances, and GD&T callouts.
  • Hands-on proficiency with standard precision measurement and inspection tooling.
  • Working knowledge of nonconformance documentation, material segregation, and corrective action processes.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence peers without formal authority.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
  • Formal GD&T training to ASME Y14.5, or a technical degree in a related discipline.
  • IPC J-STD-001 certification or equivalent soldering inspection training.
  • Experience inspecting rotorcraft or Part 23/27 aircraft hardware.
  • Experience supporting an AS9100 quality management system through internal and external audits.
  • Experience with CMM, laser trackers, or other portable metrology equipment.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Jira, or comparable ERP and issue tracking systems.
