Senior Finance Manager

Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Manager, State and Local Taxes to oversee U.S. multistate tax compliance, planning, and tax matters. The successful candidate will serve as a key advisor on SALT matters and partner closely with Finance, Legal, and business unit leaders to minimize tax risk and identify planning opportunities across state and local jurisdictions. This role will report to the SVP Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of state and local income/franchise, sales and use, gross receipts, property, and other applicable state and local tax returns
• Manage state and local tax compliance calendar, ensuring accuracy and adherence to filing deadlines across all applicable jurisdictions
• Develop and implement SALT planning strategies to optimize the company's overall state tax position, including nexus studies, apportionment analysis, and credits/incentives identification
• Monitor state and local legislative and regulatory developments, assess their impact on the business, and communicate implications to leadership
• Manage state and local tax audits, including responding to information requests and resolving disputes
• Oversee nexus determinations and taxability analyses for new products, services, and business expansion activities
• Partner with business units on new initiatives, acquisitions, and restructurings to proactively address SALT implications
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and technology solutions to increase efficiency of SALT compliance and reporting processes
• Manage relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and outside counsel as needed
• Prepare and present SALT risk assessments, forecasts, and technical memoranda
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMI, or MST a must
• 5+ years of progressive experience in state and local tax, with a mix of public accounting and/or corporate industry experience
• Strong technical knowledge of multistate income/franchise tax, sales and use tax, and related compliance and planning matters
• Experience managing state tax audits and informing requests
• Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
• Proficiency with tax compliance software and ERP systems (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax, SAP, Avalara or similar)
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively across distributed teams

The expected base salary for this position is: [CAD $150,000] excluding annual bonus. Salary is based on a number of factors including market conditions, location and may vary depending on job-related skills and experience.
