Summary

Los Angeles Equestrian Center has an excellent and immediate opening for Barn Supervisor.   The Stabling Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, horse care, safety, and customer service throughout the Los Angeles Equestrian Center's boarding and event stabling facilities.

This position serves as the daily field leader for barn operations, with a primary focus on quality control, staff training, operational compliance, and boarder satisfaction. The Stabling Supervisor spends the majority of each workday in the barns conducting inspections, training employees, monitoring stall quality, ensuring facility standards are consistently met, and serving as a visible resource for boarders and trainers.

The ideal candidate is an experienced equine professional with strong leadership skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering a consistently high standard of care and service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Quality Control & Barn Inspections

• Conduct routine inspections of all boarding and event barns to ensure consistent cleanliness, safety, and presentation.
• Verify stalls are cleaned to established quality standards, including complete manure and urine removal, appropriate bedding levels, proper banking, and overall stall condition.
• Confirm automatic waterers are clean, functioning properly, and providing horses with continuous access to fresh water as part of daily quality inspections.
• Inspect aisles, cross ties, wash racks, manure bins, tack areas, and common spaces to ensure cleanliness and compliance with facility standards.
• Monitor the overall appearance and condition of the barns, identifying opportunities to improve presentation and operational efficiency.
• Identify operational deficiencies and ensure corrective action is completed promptly.
• Maintain quality inspection records and communicate recurring operational or maintenance concerns to management.

Staff Supervision & Training

• Supervise Stall Attendants and provide daily direction regarding work assignments and priorities.
• Train new employees on proper stall cleaning techniques, safe horse handling, facility procedures, customer service expectations, and workplace safety.
• Provide ongoing coaching and hands-on instruction to improve quality, consistency, and productivity.
• Conduct routine performance observations and reinforce established quality standards.
• Recommend corrective action when performance expectations are not met.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Horse Health & Welfare

• Monitor horses during daily inspections for visible signs of illness, injury, dehydration, or distress and promptly report concerns to management.
• Ensure stalls remain safe, sanitary, and free of hazards.
• Support facility biosecurity protocols by monitoring compliance with established health and sanitation procedures.
• Assist with horse relocations during operational projects, emergencies, or facility needs.
• Report safety concerns affecting horses or facility operations immediately.

Boarder & Trainer Relations

• Serve as a visible and approachable presence throughout the barns.
• Build positive working relationships with boarders and trainers through regular communication and responsiveness.
• Respond promptly and professionally to operational concerns related to stall cleanliness, barn conditions, and facility maintenance.
• Follow up to ensure concerns have been addressed and resolved.
• Assist in maintaining a positive boarding environment through proactive communication and consistent service standards.

Facility Rules & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with boarding agreements, facility rules, and operational policies.
• Monitor aisle storage, tack organization, manure disposal, trailer parking, and overall barn safety.
• Identify unauthorized horses, trainers, or facility use and report concerns to management.
• Promote safe working conditions for employees, boarders, and visitors.
• Support implementation of emergency procedures and facility safety initiatives.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Security, and Administrative staff to resolve operational issues.
• Report maintenance needs identified during daily inspections and monitor repairs through completion.
• Participate in operational meetings and provide updates regarding barn conditions and staff performance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, employee training, operational concerns, and incident reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.

Education and/or Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in equine facility operations, boarding facilities, or large equestrian centers.

• Previous supervisory or lead experience overseeing staff preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of horse care, stable management, and daily barn operations.
• Experience training and developing employees in operational procedures.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with boarders and trainers.
• Experience maintaining quality standards in a fast-paced operational environment.
