Team Overview — Benchmarks & Indices Operations

Equity Index Data Management (EIDM) is part of the Benchmarks & Indices Operations. We are a client-focused, technology-enabled team producing high-value index data for internal and external clients. EIDM owns the underlying reference data used in the calculation of equity index products globally. We maintain LSEG intellectual property by generating and maintaining: ICB Classifications, Free Float, Voting Rights, Nationality, Universe preparation, Liquidity, and similar data points for Index Review, Rebalance, and Reconstitution cycles.

Role Purpose

The Team Lead - Equity Index Data supervises the regional Bangalore team, owns global workflows, review deliverables and leads review planning with Index Review and Index Management. The role owns the performance metrics developed by Performance Enablement, supports the Manager in driving operational excellence and cross-regional collaboration, and ensures quality and on-time delivery across quarterly reviews, rebalances, and reconstitutions. The Team Lead will lead key initiatives, mentor team members, and contribute to product innovation, client engagement, vendor management, and automation.

Responsibilities

·       Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise and mentor the regional Bangalore team to ensure consistent delivery and adherence to FTSE Russell standards; provide coaching, feedback, and development support.

·       Global Workflow Ownership: Own end-to-end global workflows (daily BAU, exception management process, quarterly and semi-annual reviews and other production checkpoints), ensuring operational continuity, data integrity, and cross-regional coordination.

·       Review Planning: Lead review planning with Index Review and Index Management for quarterly reviews, rebalances, and reconstitutions, aligning schedules, dependencies, and quality gates.

·       Performance Metrics Ownership: Own the performance matrix/metrics developed by Performance Enablement; monitor, report, and drive continuous improvements in efficiency, quality, and SLA adherence.

·       Index Data Operations: Lead daily operations for index data validation, updates, and maintenance across global indices; uphold policy and ground rules compliance and delivery SLAs.

·       Core Attribute Research & Validation: Own research and validation of core index attributes including Free Float, Voting Rights, NICB/ICB classifications, and Country Classification.

·       Timely Dataset Updates: Ensure timely and accurate updates to index dataset during review cycles, incorporating corporate actions and market events.

·       Data Infrastructure: Maintain SQL databases, validation scripts, and reporting tools that support global index data workflows.

·       Product & Policy Collaboration: Provide data-driven analysis to support Index Policy on potential ground-rule or policy updates and during complex client queries (impact assessments and recommendations).

·       New Product Support: Collaborate on new index product development by identifying relevant data points, historical datasets, and designing scalable data pipeline requirements.

·       Automation & Tools: Support automation initiatives using Power BI, Power Automate, and SQL to enhance data quality and reduce manual effort; contribute to AI-based research tools and workflow automation with internal tech teams.

·       Vendor Onboarding & Evaluation: Assist in vendor onboarding and evaluation; conduct due diligence on coverage, quality, SLAs, and alignment with FTSE Russell standards; perform multi-vendor comparisons and feasibility testing; coordinate UAT/parallel validations.

·       Stakeholder Management: Liaise with Index Management, Index Policy, and Delivery teams to ensure smooth review cycles and data alignment across regions.

·       Client Engagement: Manage post-review client queries and provide clear, data-driven explanations for index decisions consistent with methodology and policy.

·       Governance, Risk & Resilience: Manage compliance with global data governance and business continuity standards; support enterprise risk and resilience initiatives in collaboration with the Manager.

Qualifications

Required

·       5+ years of experience in index operations, reviews, rebalances & reconstitution.

·       Strong understanding of equity markets, index construction, and corporate actions.

·       Proven ability to lead teams and drive cross-functional initiatives; excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

·       Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and automation tools; experience with AWS or BAW is a plus.
