The PRN Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients according to physician orders and individualized care plans while promoting functional independence and improved quality of life. This role develops evidence-based treatment plans, provides patient and caregiver education, monitors progress, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Occupational Therapist practices within professional standards while maintaining compliance with AdventHealth policies and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations using evidence-based assessment techniques and professional standards.
Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, functional goals, and clinical outcomes.
Establish measurable treatment goals and provide therapeutic interventions that promote functional independence and improved quality of life.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate to maximize rehabilitation outcomes.
Document evaluations, treatment interventions, patient progress, and discharge planning accurately, objectively, and within established documentation timelines.
Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment plans, adaptive techniques, home exercise programs, equipment recommendations, and discharge planning.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
Recommend appropriate discharge plans and transition patients when therapy goals have been achieved or according to professional standards and payer guidelines.
Maintain compliance with AdventHealth policies, corporate compliance standards, professional practice guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other departmental responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, evaluation techniques, and evidence-based treatment interventions
Ability to develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans
Knowledge of rehabilitation practices and functional outcome measurement
Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
Excellent patient assessment and treatment planning abilities
Ability to educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic interventions and discharge recommendations
Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation professionals, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Excellent organizational, time management, and documentation skills
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in conversational English
Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining professional standards
Education
Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy — Preferred
Education requirements are determined by the licensing or certification standards established by the applicable certifying body. Candidates must possess the education required to obtain and maintain the required professional licensure.

Basic Life Support (BLS) — Required
Occupational Therapist (OT) — Required

Pay Range:
