Victorian Post Acute is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our Dietary Services team. Our 90-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility is committed to providing exceptional care, and nutritious, high-quality meals are an essential part of our residents' health and recovery.

Pay
$20–$21.00+ per hour
Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals while ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, and dietary guidelines. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the Cook oversees daily kitchen operations and supports the dietary team to ensure efficient meal service for our residents.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to approved recipes, menus, and physician-ordered therapeutic diets
Prepare a variety of foods in large quantities while maintaining consistency and quality
Accurately prepare modified and texture-altered diets, including pureed foods
Follow portion control guidelines and ensure attractive food presentation
Record and monitor food temperatures to maintain food safety standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, cooking area, equipment, and serving carts
Ensure sanitizer buckets are maintained with proper quaternary solution levels
Assist with meal service and support the dietary team during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
Follow all local, state, federal, and facility food safety and sanitation regulations
Monitor and complete assigned cleaning schedules
Communicate resident concerns or dietary-related issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing as appropriate
Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff
Provide leadership and assist with kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor
Work collaboratively with nursing, therapy, and other departments to provide outstanding resident care
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of one (1) year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, or similar healthcare setting preferred
Current California Food Handler's Card required
Ability to prepare therapeutic and special diets accurately
Ability to work independently and follow standardized recipes and menus
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection control practices
Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
