Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is building the next generation of hyperscale cloud services. This organization sits within the Oracle CTO Office and is focused on solving some of the industry's most complex long-term challenges in cloud infrastructure.

Operating as a forward-looking research and architecture organization, the team is responsible for defining the next generation of core cloud platforms that will power OCI's future growth. Rather than making incremental improvements, this organization rethinks foundational architectural assumptions and drives high-impact initiatives that shape the evolution of OCI's infrastructure at hyperscale.

Architects within this organization function as highly autonomous, single-threaded technical leaders responsible for defining entirely new architectural domains, influencing engineering organizations without formal authority, and assembling cross-functional tiger teams to solve highly ambiguous platform-level challenges. The Opportunity

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is seeking a Security & Identity Architect to define the future architecture of OCI's Identity and Security Services platform. This role will lead the modernization of foundational services including Identity, Key Management Service (KMS), Secrets Management, and Certificate/PKI while establishing the architectural direction for identity in an AI-native cloud. Working within the Chief Technical Architect Office, you will partner directly with senior engineering leadership to redesign core security services for the next generation of hyperscale cloud infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Define the long-term architectural vision for OCI's Identity and Security Services platform.
• Lead the redesign and modernization of Key Management Service (KMS), Identity, Secrets Management, and Certificate/PKI services.
• Architect highly available distributed security services that deliver scalability, resiliency, reliability, and operational efficiency at hyperscale.
• Establish architectural patterns for identity, authentication, authorization, key management, secrets management, and certificate lifecycle services.
• Drive the evolution of identity architectures to support AI-native workloads, autonomous agents, and emerging security models.
• Partner across Security, Compute, Storage, Product, and partner engineering organizations to define long-term technical strategy.
• Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple engineering teams.
• Influence technical direction through architectural leadership rather than organizational authority.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders while raising architectural rigor across OCI.

• Partner with executive engineering leadership to shape OCI's long-term security platform strategy.

   

What We're Looking For

• Have extensive experience architecting and operating large-scale identity, security, or cloud infrastructure platforms.
• Possess deep expertise in identity and access management (IAM), authentication, authorization, cryptographic services, or cloud security architectures.
• Demonstrate exceptional systems design skills and sound architectural judgment.
• Have experience designing distributed identity services, key management systems, secrets management platforms, certificate management, or security control planes.
• Have driven architectural improvements that increase scalability, resiliency, security, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Enjoy solving complex security and distributed systems problems that require long-term architectural thinking.
• Influence engineering organizations through technical credibility rather than positional authority.
• Have successfully led large, cross-functional technical initiatives spanning multiple organizations.

Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
18 years of experience in information security, security engineering, security architecture, security compliance, security control, risk management, or related field

OR

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Security, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 14 years of experience in information security, security engineering, security architecture, security compliance, security control, risk management, or related field

OR

Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Security, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 12 years of experience in information security, security engineering, security architecture, security compliance, security control, risk management, or related field

OR

Doctorate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Security, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 10 years of experience in information security, security engineering, security architecture, security compliance, security control, risk management, or related field.

Job Skills:
Same skills as prior level.

OR

Doctorate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Security, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 11 years of experience in information security, security engineering, security architecture, security compliance, security control, risk management, or related field.

People Leadership / Management Experience:
3 years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.

Compliance Program and Security Control Set Experience​:
5 years of experience with compliance programs and security control sets, such as International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27001, Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)/Health Information Trust (HITRUST), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53, Payment Card Industry (PCI), and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), as applied to cloud Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service, and on-prem environments.
