Job Summary:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical Systems supports the transition of new products into operations and resolves technical issues for products currently in production. This position plays a critical role in bringing advanced electro-mechanical, electrical, and infrared products from design into manufacturing by partnering closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams. The role works across the entire product lifecycle, influencing product design, manufacturability, production readiness, cost, quality, and yield. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for electrical and electro-mechanical manufacturing processes, support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing methods, equipment, and processes.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Solve complex design and manufacturing problems with engineering support as required.

  • Take ownership of assigned products and manufacturing processes and provide technical direction to Technicians and production personnel.

  • Work hands-on with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve electrical, electro-mechanical, test, and system-level issues.

  • Analyze design challenges during New Product Introduction (NPI) and develop manufacturing methods, operations sequences, tooling, and production processes for new and existing infrared and electro-mechanical products.

  • Review, comment on, and approve new product designs to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles are incorporated early in the development process.

  • Partner with Electrical Engineering teams to resolve design, integration, test, assembly, and manufacturability issues.

  • Support successful transition of products from Design Engineering to Production while ensuring production readiness and manufacturability objectives are achieved.

  • Provide daily production floor support for complex electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies, including PCBAs, wiring harnesses, test systems, sensors, and integrated products.

  • Lead root cause investigations, failure analysis activities, and implementation of corrective actions to improve quality, reliability, and yield.

  • Work with suppliers and vendors to resolve manufacturing, assembly, component, and documentation issues.

  • Participate in the review and approval of all Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for supported products.

  • Liaison with Engineering to maintain knowledge of emerging technologies, product designs, and manufacturing processes.

  • Develop and implement process improvements that enhance manufacturability, quality, throughput, and cost efficiency.

  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process flows, and production support records.

  • Evaluate manufacturing costs, process capabilities, labor estimates, and production time standards.

  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and yield improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred. Candidates with degrees in Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines may be considered if they possess significant experience supporting electrical or electronics manufacturing environments.

  • 6-8+ years of experience in electrical, electronics, or electro-mechanical manufacturing environments.

  • Experience supporting products through design release, NPI, production transfer, and full-rate manufacturing.

  • Strong experience troubleshooting electrical and electro-mechanical products in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and corrective action implementation.

  • Experience working with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), manufacturing documentation, and process development.

  • Experience with printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), electrical assemblies, wiring harnesses, test systems, or related electrical manufacturing technologies preferred.

  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs strongly preferred.

  • Experience with optical products, sensors, imaging systems, portable instruments, electro-optical systems, and/or infrared technology strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or similar manufacturing improvement methodologies preferred.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, project management, computer, and interpersonal skills.
