Basic Purpose of the Job

The Quality Engineer - Internal Quality Auditor is responsible for planning, conducting, reporting, and following up on Quality Management System (QMS) audits to assess compliance with applicable standards, customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and company procedures. The role supports the effectiveness of the Quality Management System through independent assessment, identification of risks and opportunities for improvement, and verification of corrective actions.

The Internal Quality Auditor works cross-functionally with process owners, manufacturing teams, business functions, and leadership to promote continual improvement and ensure audit program effectiveness.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Audit Planning and Preparation

  • Participate in the development and execution of the annual internal audit program.
  • Review applicable standards, procedures, customer requirements, and previous audit results.
  • Develop audit plans, checklists, and sampling approaches.
  • Coordinate audit schedules with auditees and relevant stakeholders.

Audit Execution

  • Conduct internal system, process, product, and compliance audits.
  • Assess conformity to: 
    • ISO 9001 requirements
    • IATF 16949 requirements (where applicable)
    • Customer-specific requirements
    • Internal procedures and specifications
  • Gather objective evidence through interviews, observations, and document reviews.
  • Apply process-based and risk-based auditing techniques.

Audit Reporting

  • Prepare clear, factual, and timely audit reports.
  • Document findings supported by objective evidence.
  • Present audit conclusions during closing meetings.
  • Communicate significant risks, nonconformities, and improvement opportunities.

Corrective Action Management

  • Review root cause analyses and corrective action plans.
  • Verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Monitor open findings through closure.
  • Escalate overdue or ineffective actions as required.

Quality System Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve process effectiveness and system performance.
  • Support continual improvement initiatives resulting from audit activities.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of internal audit methodologies and practices.

Auditor Qualification and Development

  • Maintain internal auditor qualifications and competence.
  • Complete and/or provide required auditor training
  • Stay current with revisions to quality standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • With lead auditor certificate

Experience

  • Minimum 5-year work experience in semiconductor or electronics industry
  • Defined audit program and led audits against ISO9001, IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3
  • Organized cross-functional audits or worked with global organizations
  • Supported certification or customer audits 

Skills/Knowledge/Attitude

  • Above average English and traditional Chinese communication skills, assertive and with good interpersonal skills
  • Sound interpretation of QMS standards and core tools
  • Application of problem-solving techniques such as 8D 
  • Knowledge on semiconductor design, manufacturing, and support processes and activities
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and SharePoint
  • Good in documentation and records management
  • Strong work ethics, time management and conflict management
  • Positive attitude with customer satisfaction mindset
  • Willing to travel
  • Preferably competent in data analytics and AI agent creation
  • Preferably with experience leading Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) audits
