About the Manager of Clinical Operations role

The Manager, Clinical Operations is a hands-on operational leader who owns the real-time execution of Curai Health's 24x7x365 virtual primary care clinic, operating across 50 US states plus the District of Columbia. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this leader runs the day-to-day engine of the clinic: directly supervising the non-clinician care team, owning clinician scheduling and coverage, and driving patient queue flow and throughput against defined service level agreements.   This is an execution-first role for someone who runs toward operational problems, makes fast decisions under pressure, and holds a high bar for throughput and quality at the same time. Because Curai is an AI-first company, this leader is expected to be genuinely comfortable in AI-forward workflows — actively using AI tools to improve their own productivity and to make the entire care team more efficient. The Manager, Clinical Operations works closely with the Medical Director and clinical leadership but is independently accountable for the operational levers that keep the clinic staffed, moving, and meeting its targets. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, technology-forward environment and is energized by keeping a live clinic running smoothly.   Team Supervision (Non-Clinician Care Team)
  • Directly supervise, coach, hire, onboard, and develop the non-clinician care team (medical assistants, prior authorization specialists, clinical operations specialists), setting performance expectations, quality standards, and productivity targets
  • Build a positive, accountable, high-performing remote team culture, serving as the primary escalation point during operating hours, while coaching the team to adopt AI tools that raise individual and team efficiency
  • Clinician Scheduling & Coverage
  • Own clinician scheduling and coverage planning across a 24x7x365 operation, building schedules across time zones, shifts, and visit types (async, live chat, audio-video), and managing PTO, shift swaps, and coverage gaps with clinical leadership
  • Coordinate real-time staffing decisions and surge coverage, using data and AI-enabled forecasting to anticipate near- and medium-term needs and flag capacity risks
  • Clinic Flow, Queue Management & Throughput
  • Own real-time patient queue management — monitoring, balancing, and prioritizing across visit types to meet SLAs — while driving throughput by reducing wait times, optimizing case distribution, and clearing backlogs
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process and AI-driven improvements to speed up care without sacrificing quality, making same-day staffing/prioritization calls and partnering with clinicians to keep their path clear for patient care
  • AI-Forward Ways of Working & Innovation
  • Champion responsible, safe integration of AI tools into operational and care-team workflows, continuously identifying and rolling out AI-driven efficiencies while modeling AI use for personal productivity (reporting, analysis, communication, decision support)
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science on tooling and automation, maintaining a growth mindset to rethink how work gets done as AI capabilities evolve
  • Performance, Metrics & Financial Stewardship
  • Develop, monitor, and report KPIs for clinic operations (SLA attainment, wait times, throughput, utilization, cost per visit), providing regular reporting and improvement recommendations to leadership
  • Staff to demand within budget, stewarding labor and operational costs to support the clinic's annual operating plan
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with the Medical Director, clinical leadership, Business Operations, and People Operations, and partner with Provider Operations on credentialing/licensing to support on-time starts and high-touch onboarding
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with clinicians to support satisfaction and retention, communicating clearly across clinical and non-clinical audiences

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5-7 years of experience in clinical or healthcare operations, including direct experience running the day-to-day operations of a clinic or medical group
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience directly supervising non-clinician staff (e.g., medical assistants, prior authorization specialists, clinical operations specialists)
  • Demonstrated ownership of clinician scheduling/coverage and/or real-time queue and throughput management
  • Proven track record of improving operational KPIs (SLA attainment, throughput, utilization) in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfort and enthusiasm working in AI-forward workflows, with a demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve personal and team efficiency
  • Comfort working in a 24x7x365 care delivery operation, including outside traditional business hours when required by the needs of the medical group
  • Demonstrated success leading in a fully remote environment and collaborating cross-functionally
  • Preferred
  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field
  • Experience in telehealth, virtual care, or digital health
  • Experience in high-growth, rapidly scaling organizations
  • Experience with workforce management and scheduling tools
  • Hands-on experience deploying AI tools or automation to improve operational workflows
