Manufacturing Shift Executive – HUL
A Manufacturing Shift Executive plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and quality-focused operation of manufacturing processes within Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a continuous improvement mindset to deliver business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership The Shift Executive is responsible for creating and sustaining a strong safety culture on the shop floor. This includes ensuring compliance with all safety standards, Permit to Work (PTW) requirements, Lockout-Tagout-Tryout (LOTOTO) procedures, risk assessments, and machine safety guidelines. The individual leads safety observations, investigations, and corrective actions to prevent incidents and achieve a zero-harm workplace.
Production Delivery The role involves managing day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve production targets in line with business requirements. The Shift Executive ensures optimum utilization of manpower, machines, materials, and utilities while maintaining schedule adherence and minimizing downtime.
Quality Management A key responsibility is ensuring that all products are manufactured according to HUL's quality standards and regulatory requirements. The Executive drives process discipline, compliance with GMP requirements, defect reduction initiatives, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Cost and Productivity Improvement The role focuses on improving operational efficiency through reduction of waste, improvement in technology efficiency, enhancement of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. The Executive actively participates in Kaizen projects and cost-saving programs that contribute to business profitability.
People Leadership and Capability Building The Shift Executive leads operators and technicians during the shift, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and discipline. The role includes coaching team members, identifying training needs, developing technical capabilities, and fostering a positive work environment.
Maintenance and Reliability The Executive collaborates closely with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and process stability. Responsibilities include supporting preventive maintenance activities, managing breakdown situations, and implementing actions to improve machine performance.
Compliance and Performance Management The position requires maintaining accurate production, quality, safety, and operational records. The Executive ensures compliance with company standards, audit requirements, statutory regulations, and internal control systems while driving data-based decision making.
