Job Description Summary

The Material Planner is responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of materials from suppliers and across internal departments to support production schedules. The role includes planning and scheduling material requirements, ensuring material availability, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting operational excellence initiatives. This position requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to contribute to continuous improvement projects.
*This is a temporary position for one year, with the potential for extension based on business needs.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage material ordering and availability while maintaining a minimum two-week inventory level.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy across ERP systems.
  • Reschedule materials to support production priorities, including pull-ins (expedites) and push-outs (inventory optimization).
  • Investigate and resolve daily material shortages through root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate material planning and scheduling for Field Modification Instructions (FMIs), as required.
  • Analyze supply data and provide recommendations to improve material availability and operational performance.
  • Support the development of tools and processes to predict and prevent material shortages.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Logistics, and other cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Support Lean initiatives, continuous improvement activities, and operational excellence projects.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Previous experience in material planning, supply chain, production planning, or a similar operations role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP – an advantage).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of English (written and spoken).
