InfraSource seeks a Senior Project Accountant to join the team at our company headquarters in Sumner, WA.
The Senior Project Accountant recognizes revenue and reviews complex invoices and billings in accordance with accounting principles and contract terms. They are an experienced member of our project accounting team, performing high level analysis and budget oversight. This role reviews project budgets before job set-up, monitors estimated-cost-to-complete (ETC) for risk and overruns, performs job-level margin and variance analysis, and serves as a go-to resource for the rest of the project accounting and project management teams. The hourly pay rate for this role is $38.00-$43.00/hour based on experience.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities:
- Analyze proposed project budgets prior to job set-up and advise on the appropriate accounting structure and methods
- Monitor estimated-cost-to-complete (ETC) on active projects to identify budget overruns and potential margin risk, and initiate and follow through on resulting action items
- Perform job-level margin and variance analysis, partnering with Project Managers to explain and resolve discrepancies
- Collaborate with Project Managers on complex accounting scenarios, including job set-up methodology and non-standard billing situations
- Serve as a resource for cost report questions and coding issues, providing guidance to Project Managers and other project accounting staff
- Recognize revenue and issue a wide range of invoices/billings, from standard to complex, in accordance with GAAP revenue recognition standards and contract terms
- Ensure reconciliations and supporting schedules for assigned projects are completed timely and in accordance with customer and internal requirements
- Analyze and present weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual financial results to management and support operations in making informed decisions
- Lead special projects such as process improvements, reporting enhancements, mass data optimization, and SOP creation
- Train and mentor Project Accountants and Project Billing Specialists, and lead internal training sessions for the Project Management and Operations teams on relevant Project Accounting processes
- Assist with forecasting and related management reporting
- Evaluate accounting and internal control processes and ensure control requirements are met
- Retrieve and organize supporting documentation for internal and external audits
- Create journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
- Proactively pursue professional development and learning opportunities relevant to the role
- Other tasks as assigned
What You'll Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education
- Minimum of 5 years related project/revenue accounting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including revenue recognition
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated experience within an integrated accounting/ERP system, including project or job costing
- Experience training or mentoring team members
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines with minimal oversight
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using JD Edwards.
- Experience in a utility, contract utility, or construction company.
- Prior experience in a lead or senior project accounting role

Compensation Range
The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $38.00/Hr. - USD $43.00/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.Equal Opportunity Employer
