As a Control Automation System Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical implementation and development of digital control systems within the HVDC/Power system control and protection architecture. You will work under the guidance of lead engineers to execute design tasks, perform system integration, and support testing activities. You will contribute to project deliverables by ensuring designs meet technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute the design, implementation, and testing of digital control systems for HVDC/substation control and protection.
- Configure or Knowledge on IEC 61850 IEDs using vendor-specific tools and System Configuration Tools.
- Generate Substation Configuration Language (SCL) files for system integration.
- Knowledge on sequencing and interlocking logic within substation automation systems.
- Support the debugging of complex IEC 61850 communication networks using tools such as IEDScout and Wireshark.
- Implement HMI/SCADA configurations, testing, and installation support.
- Interface the control system with Balance of Plant equipment and external SCADA systems.
- ·Assist in defining I/O lists and ensure signal interface compatibility.
- Support the configuration of RTUs, Bay Controllers, and Merging Units for signal acquisition.
- Configure industrial Ethernet switches, routers, and time synchronization systems (GPS/PTP).
- Develop detailed design documentation using standard blocks, including electrical schematics, wiring schedules, and BOMs.
- Assist in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and site commissioning activities.
- Ensure all technical documentation is accurate and compliant with engineering policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience or good knowledge in configuring Substation Bay Controllers, Merging Units, IEC 61850 IEDs, or HMI/SCADA technologies.
- Experience or good knowledge on control and protection system design/implementation.
- Working knowledge of industrial communication networks (IEC 61850, Ethernet-based protocols).
- Experience or Knowledge in developing electrical designs for industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and network hardening.
- Knowledge of Layer 2 & 3 protocols (IPv4, OSPF, LACP, VPN, Modbus, etc.).
