The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the sustainment, integration, operation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise and mission network infrastructure supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs and operational environments. This role supports the reliability, security, and performance of existing LAN/WAN, transport, and Cross Domain Solution environments across distributed and mission-critical networks.

The Senior Network Engineer performs network integration support, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and operational sustainment activities to maintain high availability and mission readiness. This position places strong emphasis on integration engineering, including the planning, configuration, testing, validation, documentation, deployment, and transition of network and Cross Domain Solution capabilities into operational environments.

This position works closely with senior technical staff, systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, operational support staff, and government stakeholders to support stable network operations, resolve technical issues, validate system connectivity, and implement approved network and cross domain improvements within established architectures.

This position requires strong experience with Cross Domain Solutions, secure data transfer, network segmentation, enclave connectivity, mission data dissemination, and the operational considerations associated with moving data between security domains. The role also supports Cross Domain Solution accreditation activities, including technical documentation and support for Site-Based Security Assessments (SBSAs), Raise the Bar (RTB) 2.0 requirements, National Cross Domain Strategy & Management Office (NCDSMO) policies, RMF activities, STIG guidance, and applicable DoD cybersecurity policies.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the operation, sustainment, and integration of enterprise LAN/WAN network infrastructure across mission and program environments.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, cryptographic devices, and Cross Domain Solution (CDS) components.
• Perform network and CDS integration engineering, including planning, configuration, testing, validation, deployment, and transition to operations.
• Integrate, test, and deploy CDS capabilities across lab, test, production, and operational environments.
• Validate data flows, routing, transport paths, multicast traffic, firewall rules, access controls, security boundaries, and enclave connectivity.
• Support integration events and mission readiness activities by validating network connectivity, system interoperability, CDS interfaces, and operational performance.
• Monitor network health, performance, and availability using enterprise management and monitoring tools.
• Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis, traffic analysis, and incident response support for network, integration, and cross-domain connectivity issues.
• Implement approved network changes, upgrades, patches, and security updates while providing engineering support to operational teams.
• Maintain accreditation and operational documentation, including network architectures, diagrams, IP schemes, security boundaries, data flows, configurations, test results, change records, and Site-Based Security Assessment (SBSA) support.

Site-specific configuration details

• Participate in operational reviews, technical troubleshooting sessions, integration planning meetings, accreditation support discussions, and engineering working groups

• Ensure network operations and cross domain integrations comply with DoD cybersecurity policies, RMF requirements, STIG guidance, RTB 2.0 requirements, NCDSMO policies, and applicable security requirements

• Support vulnerability remediation and implementation of required security controls across network and cross domain environments

• Identify operational risks, integration issues, accreditation impacts, and configuration gaps, and recommend practical improvements to enhance reliability, security, and performance

• Collaborate with systems engineering, cybersecurity teams, operational support staff, assessment teams, and government stakeholders to maintain mission system connectivity and support accreditation activities

• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and operational support staff, as needed

• Support engineering analysis and technical inputs for program proposals, integration planning, site deployments, accreditation support, or network sustainment efforts

Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related discipline
• 4–8+ years of relevant networking, systems integration, or mission network experience in enterprise or DoD operational environments
• Experience operating, sustaining, and integrating enterprise network infrastructure—including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, cryptographic devices, and Cross Domain Solutions (CDS)—with expertise in secure data movement, controlled interfaces, network security boundaries, mission data transfer between security domains, and CDS accreditation activities such as Site-Based Security Assessments (SBSAs), security documentation, data flow validation, and coordination with cybersecurity and assessment teams.
• Proven ability to document technical configurations, data flows, test results, operational procedures, and integration activities while independently managing multiple priorities and collaborating effectively with engineers, operations teams, cybersecurity personnel, and mission stakeholders within cost and schedule constraints.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing protocols, VLANs, multicast, mesh networking, firewall policies, network segmentation, transport mechanisms, and secure communications, with experience using network monitoring, diagnostic, and performance management tools to support operational network environments.

Clearance & Travel Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance required with SCI eligibility
• CONUS and OCONUS travel will be required periodically\
• Travel may include government facilities, operational sites, test locations, integration labs, assessment activities, and training environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting DoD operational, ISR, and DISA transport network environments, including the integration and sustainment of enterprise services and mission systems.
• Experience supporting Cross Domain Solutions (CDS), secure data transfer architectures, and network security boundary technologies, including accreditation activities, Site-Based Security Assessments (SBSAs), security documentation, data flow validation, and coordination with cybersecurity and assessment teams.
• Familiarity with Raise the Bar (RTB) 2.0, NCDSMO requirements, RMF, STIGs, DoD cybersecurity compliance processes, and AISR transport network and mission data dissemination architectures.
• Experience supporting network integration engineering, testing, site installations, system acceptance, and transition-to-operations activities across lab, test, production, operational, cloud, and hybrid environments, including multicast, secure transport, tunneling, encryption, mission data flow validation, and network virtualization/software-defined networking technologies.
• Knowledge of RMF processes and STIG implementation within operational networks

Cubic Pay Range:

$96,000.00 - $137,000.00 + benefits.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
