Senior Manager - Technology Operations Engineering

Sr Manager, Technology Operations Engineering executes strategic technical service plans, drives adoption of innovative practices, directs system and network maintenance, manages complex projects, and fosters a collaborative, growth-oriented team environment aligned with business objectives.

  • Hands-on experience with Mainframe databases and data management technologies such as DB2 for z/OS, IMS DB, VSAM, and related utilities for performance tuning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Mainframe monitoring, observability, workload management, and operational tooling such as OMEGAMON, SMF/RMF, Sysview, MainView, Splunk/Elf, and log analysis tools to ensure application reliability and performance.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills with hands-on experience in COBOL, PL/I, REXX, JCL, SQL, and automation technologies to streamline operational and support activities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities with proven experience diagnosing and resolving production incidents, batch failures, performance bottlenecks, and system issues in complex Mainframe environments.
  • Practical experience implementing and supporting enterprise integration solutions, including MQ, CICS Transaction Gateway, Connect:Direct, APIs, event-driven architectures, and batch and real-time data integration processes.
  • Experience with modern DevOps, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery practices for Mainframe applications, utilizing tools such as Git, IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB), Jenkins, Endevor, Changeman, ISPW, UrbanCode Deploy, or equivalent platforms.
  • Knowledge of Mainframe resiliency, disaster recovery, high availability, capacity planning, and incident management best practices to maintain stable and secure production environments.
  • Understanding of Mainframe security concepts and technologies, including RACF, ACF2, Top Secret, audit controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to product managers, business partners, and leadership, translating complex technical issues into business-relevant outcomes. Demonstrated collaboration skills in cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, operational excellence, automation, and non-functional requirements (NFRs) such as availability, scalability, recoverability, performance, and security is preferred.
  • Experience with hybrid Mainframe and distributed/cloud environments, including API enablement, z/OS Connect, and enterprise modernization initiatives, is a plus.

Education Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or other technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in Mainframe software engineering, application support, infrastructure operations, production support, or runtime engineering.
  • Strong understanding of IBM Mainframe architecture and ecosystem, including z/OS, JES2/JES3, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, and batch processing environments, with experience supporting critical business applications.
