Electrical Tradesperson FSE (Electrician)

Job Purpose

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Tradesperson (Electrician) to join our Maintenance Team based at the West Swanson Port Terminal.

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing critical port equipment - including Quay Cranes and Straddle Carriers - to ensure safe, reliable operation across our terminal. This is a full-time role working 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs) and scheduled servicing

  • Perform electrical repairs and refurbishments to engineering standards

  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring safe and timely resolution

  • Maintain safety as a top priority in all maintenance activities

  • Ensure equipment is tested and safe before being returned to service

  • Complete electrical fault-finding, diagnostics, and component replacements

  • Source parts and technical data required to perform tasks

  • Use our CMMS (MAXIMO) to manage job cards, parts, and work reporting

  • Provide effective shift handovers to supervisors

  • Act as Relief Leading Hand or Shift Supervisor when required

  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Completed Electrical Apprenticeship and Trade Qualification
    (e.g. Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or Instrumentation)
  • Valid A Grade Electrician’s Licence (Victoria)
  • Proven experience in heavy fixed plant or mobile fleet electrical maintenance
  • Ability to perform PLC fault finding and/or programming
  • Competence using PC applications: Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings (CAD experience desirable).
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Current EWP, Forklift licence and licence to Perform High Risk Work will be highly regarded.
  • Current Victorian drivers licence.
  • Knowledge of manufacturer specifications and parts sourcing
  • Proactive attitude toward diagnostics, upgrades, and continuous improvement
  • Experience with maintenance management systems (e.g., MAXIMO)
  • Highly regarded:
    • Siemens S7, Omron, ABB, or Allen Bradley PLCs
    • HMI systems, SCADA, or WinCC
    • AC motor drives, VSDs, VFDs, power factor correction systems
    • HV Switching (11KV)
    • Mechanical aptitude 
  • Must hold or be eligible for an MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card)
