Supervisor Workshop - Barrow Island
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Workshop Supervisor to join our team on Barrow Island, supporting our key client, Chevron. This is a FIFO role working a 2:2 roster (12-hour days), offering a strong total remuneration package plus site allowance.
In this hands-on leadership position, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and productive operation of the mechanical workshop, supporting the maintenance and reliability of HV and LV vehicles and equipment. Leading a team of mechanics, auto electricians, tyre fitters and trade assistants, you will provide technical guidance, coordinate daily activities, and ensure work is completed safely, on schedule and to a high standard.
You will play a key role in driving a strong safety culture, facilitating daily pre-starts and toolbox meetings, managing workshop schedules and work orders, supporting compliance requirements, and fostering the development of your team through coaching and mentoring. What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who brings strong workshop experience, practical leadership skills and a genuine commitment to Zero Harm. You will be organised, approachable and confident in keeping work moving safely while supporting your team to do their best work.
You will bring:
A trade qualification as a mechanic.
A current Class HR driver licence.
A forklift licence, desirable but not essential.
At least 5 years’ experience in the construction or maintenance industry.
Ideally, 2 or more years’ experience in a similar supervisory role.
Experience working with HV and LV vehicles.
Strong communication, planning and time management skills.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work as part of a team.
A genuine desire to work in an environment that promotes Zero Harm.
In the role, you will:
Lead daily pre-starts and share important site and company information with the team.
Promote safe work practices and help maintain a safe workshop environment.
Support planning and scheduling of daily and weekly workshop activities.
Monitor work orders, bookings, backlog, completed works and reporting requirements.
Conduct spot audits to support safety and compliance.
Facilitate toolbox meetings and contribute to weekly progress reporting.
Coach and mentor team members, including identifying development opportunities and standout performers.
Assist with fault finding, supplier contact, parts ordering and delivery follow-up.
