The Position

The Position

 Roche Diagnostics Africa, as part of the Roche Diagnostics EMEA-LATAM region, is a diverse and innovative subregion, representing 54 countries and about 450 employees, who are passionate about leading the transformation of Diagnostics in Africa.  

We are looking for a Country Manager of Nigeria, who leads the organization to continuous success, by enabling people and the organization to implement our purpose of ‘Doing now what patients need next’, bringing the true value of diagnostics to life for everyone.

As Network Lead Anglophone West Africa/Country Manager, Nigeria, you are accountable for a network of currently 5 countries (Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia)  and work with the respective internal and external stakeholders.

You will act as an agile leader (Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst) and ensure all employees live the desired Roche Diagnostics culture, aligned on the subregional, regional and divisional strategic roadmap. You will embed and role model the conditions of a high performing organisation, which form the basis for ongoing success.

You are also an active member of the Africa Leadership Team (ALT) and drive the collaboration between networks, chapters and enabling functions in the operating model of Africa in order to deliver and execute on the key priorities and strategic framework for Africa subregion. 

Simultaneously, being part of the EMEA-LATAM General Managers and Country Managers community, you will be able to contribute beyond your network responsibility.

You will report to the Head of Subregion Africa, Diagnostics. 

Your Responsibilities 

  • You have full accountability for the financial short-, mid- and long term performance of the Anglophone West Africa Network, along with sustainable business planning. You establish appropriate budgets, key initiatives and guide your teams in leading our external stakeholders and business partners. 

  • You apply system thinking,  building strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders and navigating complex business challenges in order to take the business down a set path to achieve Africa Subregion priorities. 

  • You ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and Roche corporate standards. 

  • You build the right organizational capability and demonstrate exceptional leadership. You focus on people and are passionate about developing them to become a better version of themselves and you role model the conditions of a high performing organisation.

  • You lead the local leadership team, fostering alignment across all functions and ensuring strategic decisions are made with a deep understanding of local market dynamics.

  • You lead, grow and inspire your team and foster an agile and learning culture within the organisation. As a leader, you develop the people in your organisation and motivate them towards maintaining a high performance culture. You demonstrate and instill effective and transparent communication and work ethics at all levels of the organisation. 

  • You actively engage with key customers and leading industry associations to keep abreast of market movements as well as to influence and/or shape the external market environment.

  • You passionately transform the organization under your supervision and drive the execution of our new divisional strategy towards our future vision of diagnostics. 

  • You lead constructive collaborations between Roche Diagnostics and Roche Pharma within your network.

  • You have acute commercial acumen and agility to achieve results amid market friction. You are equipped to handle high economic sensitivity, design resilient commercial strategies against currency/FX volatility, and manage business risks in cash-dominant, out-of-pocket healthcare ecosystems.

  • You are able to lead strategically as well as provide guidance and be hands-on when the situation calls for it. With acute commercial acumen and agility, you have a proven track record of achieving results and delivering successful initiatives. You are forward looking, challenge the status quo and have experience leading in organisations through change and transformation.

  • You have the sophisticated interpersonal skills required to navigate complex, evolving, and opaque regulatory landscapes. You can build public-private partnerships, work toward integrating diagnostics into national insurance schemes, and strategically guide the network away from donor reliance toward sustainable local growth.

  • You have a proven ability to engage, lead, and coach diverse teams. You can distill highly complex market, financial, or regulatory topics into simple, articulate, and actionable messages for various internal and external audiences.

  • You possess executive presence and know how to operate effectively at senior level.

  • You possess a relevant education degree (Higher education degree (MA, MS, MBA, PhD) is a plus) and have multiple years of senior leadership experience in a commercial and multinational environment in Medical devices, Laboratory and / or Pharma industries.
