Designer Account Executive

This position is responsible for developing relationships with the Residential Interior Designer/Decorator/Architect to convert competitive paint brand preference, increase product and color specification that will result in gallon and sales growth for the Residential Repaint Market within a specified territory. 

Job duties involve contact with customers, which may include minors; and access to cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise and other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s customers, staff, employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public.

1. Client Relationship Development & Management 

• Document Residential Interior Designers’/Decorators’/Architects’ information in the database. 
• Develop a call routine to convert designers from competitive brands. 
• Identify opportunity accounts and preferred paint brands. 
• Maintain an accurate and updated client database. 
• Gather leads from designers and distribute them to the appropriate sales personnel. 
 

2. Product Education & Specification Support 

• Educate designers on Sherwin-Williams’ premium paint products and their benefits. 
• Guide designers in specifying the right Sherwin-Williams product for their clients’ needs. 
• Utilize internal resources and employees to provide technical assistance and samples. 
• Host CEU events and other functions to promote the brand. 
 

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration 

• Interface with District, Division, and Group colleagues to foster collaboration. 
• Work with stores and Residential Repaint Representatives to gather leads from painters. 
• Share competitive insights with management regarding the designer/architect market. 
 

4. Community & Industry Engagement 

• Provide color tools and identify presentation opportunities at local interior design schools. 
• Support local design organizations (e.g., ASID) through participation in meetings, tradeshows, and committees. 
 

5. Strategic Planning & Reporting 

• Develop and implement strategies to achieve goals and manage time effectively. 
• Provide monthly dashboards and submit biweekly Concur expense reports. 

• Direct control of building relationships with Residential Interior Designers/Decorators/Architects.  
• Direct control over the distribution of color tools, product information as well as other marketing materials to 
Residential Interior Designers/Decorators/Architects. 
• Direct control of planning and conducting Educational Seminars for Residential Interior 
Designers/Decorators/Architects as well as local Interior Design Schools.  
• Direct control of expenses relating to daily activities and special events not to exceed $300 without manager’s 
approval.  
• Direct control of partnership with District Residential Repaint Reps facilitating the exchange of Residential 
Interior Designer/Decorator/Architects and Residential Painter leads.  
• Direct control of communication to District Management teams updating on design activities, competitive 
brands, and market conditions. 

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Prior experience as an SW Assistant Store Manager or prior experience in the Interior Design 
    industry  
  • Strong understanding of the design process and specification workflows. 

 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Interior Design 
  • Prior experience as an SW Store Manager, Sales Rep, or Design Concierge
