Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and execute qualification plans for new products and technologies
Design and oversee reliability testing including burn-in, life test, HTOL, TC, thermal shock, damp heat, HAST
Provide instructions and technical guidance to technicians and operators performing reliability stresses and tests
Analyze accelerated stress data to determine acceleration factors, lifetime projections, FIT, reliability confidence intervals
Perform statistical analysis using JMP, Excel, SQL, or similar tools to identify reliability trends and degradation mechanisms
Determine samples requiring physical failure analysis and coordinate FA activities
Interpret results from SEM, FIB, EDX, cross-section analysis, material analysis, and related techniques
Drive corrective actions and reliability improvements through root-cause investigations
Develop, validate, and optimize electrical and optical test methodologies for photodiodes and laser devices
Improve test capability, measurement accuracy, throughput, repeatability, and reproducibility
Author Qualification Test Reports (QTRs), reliability assessments, and customer-facing reliability documentation
Present reliability test results and recommendations to management, customers, and cross-functional teams
Education & Experience
- B.S. or M.S. in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical discipline
- 3+ years of experience in semiconductor reliability, optoelectronic device engineering, product engineering, test engineering, or related fields
- Experience working with semiconductor optoelectronic devices or optical communication components
- Experience planning, executing, and analyzing engineering experiments
Skills
- Reliability analysis and lifetime modeling
- Statistical analysis using JMP, Excel, Python, or equivalent tools
- Design of Experiments (DOE)
- SQL and data analysis tools
- Strong understanding of III-V semiconductor device physics
- Knowledge of laser and photodiode operation, performance characterization, and degradation mechanisms
- Optical and electrical test development for photodiodes and laser devices
- Reliability and qualification standards for semiconductor and optoelectronic products
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive deadlines
- Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent problem-solving and root-cause investigation skills
- Effective collaboration within cross-functional engineering teams
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in a semiconductor cleanroom environment
- Support qualification and production activities in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements
- Work in a Class 100/1000 cleanroom environment for extended periods
- Wear full cleanroom attire
- Stand and sit for extended periods as required
- Handle test hardware and measurement equipment
