Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance, compliance, and long-term stewardship of a significant government-owned office precinct in Bendigo. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will work collaboratively with client and BGIS teams to ensure asset performance, service excellence, compliance, and customer satisfaction are consistently achieved.

This newly created position has been established as part of an expanding portfolio and offers the opportunity to play a key role within a prominent regional government hub. The ideal candidate will be relationship-focused, organised, and proactive, with a genuine passion for delivering positive stakeholder experiences, maintaining high-quality facilities, and supporting continuous improvement. 🏢

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day building operations, including planned and reactive maintenance, inspections, service delivery, and site coordination.
  • Maintain asset registers, lifecycle plans, compliance records, and condition data using BGIS systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance programs, minor works, capital projects, and asset renewal activities.
  • Support long-term asset planning, capital forecasting, and maintenance optimisation strategies.
  • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders, occupants, service providers, visitors, and community representatives.
  • Coordinate contractor activities, permits, inductions, and site access requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory maintenance requirements, essential safety measures, and Victorian legislation.
  • Monitor site presentation and maintain safe, welcoming, and efficient working environments.
  • Use data and reporting insights to identify opportunities for operational improvements, sustainability initiatives, and enhanced service delivery.
  • Support budget management, forecasting, accruals, KPI reporting, and performance monitoring. 

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a Facilities Manager, with senior-level facilities management experience highly regarded.
  • Experience managing commercial office environments, property portfolios, or large-scale facilities.
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, capital planning, and maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of statutory maintenance requirements, essential safety measures, and compliance obligations.
  • Experience managing contractors, coordinating site works, and overseeing service delivery programs.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service capabilities.
  • High proficiency in facilities management systems, digital technologies, and reporting platforms.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Qualifications in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Services, a trade discipline, or a related field.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing government, civic, or public-sector facilities.
  • Previous experience within precinct-style or multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience supporting sustainability, innovation, and technology-driven service improvements.
  • Familiarity with asset management frameworks and capital works programs.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups and community representatives.

Workplace Flexibility

To support strong stakeholder engagement and successful site outcomes, this position will be based full-time on-site in Bendigo. Flexible daily working hours may be available, such as 7:00am–3:30pm or 9:00am–5:30pm, depending on operational requirements.

The successful candidate will also be available by phone after hours should facilities management guidance be required for urgent site matters.
