NBC News is seeking a highly capable, proactive and solutions-focused HR Manager to join the International HR team. This role will report to the Vice President, HR, and work closely with the HR Coordinator to deliver a high-quality HR service across NBC News International (locations outside of the US).
This is a hands‑on role that plays an important part in delivering an effective HR operation and excellent employee experience. It will suit an experienced HR professional who enjoys balancing employee relations, manager coaching, workforce planning and operational excellence while driving broader people initiatives across an international business.
You will be a trusted partner to managers, providing day-to-day HR support whilst taking ownership of key people processes and programmes. Working closely with colleagues including HR Operations, Payroll, Legal, Talent Acquisition, Global Mobility, and Finance, you will ensure the employee experience is seamless, compliant and aligned to business objectives. You will provide day-to-day supervision and management to the HR Coordinator.
This role will be based at the Sky Campus in Osterley and will also require some presence in the NBCUniversal office in Central London. The role may also require international travel to the USA and other NBC News locations globally.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnership
- Act as a trusted HR partner to managers and employees across NBC News international, providing practical and commercially focused HR advice.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, supporting initiatives that align with business priorities and organisational goals.
- Coach managers on leadership, development, and best practice people management.
- Identify people risks, trends, and opportunities, partnering with the VP, HR, on appropriate solutions.
- Take ownership of HR programme rollouts locally, including performance reviews, annual compensation process and salary planning, benefits enrolment, and early careers initiatives.
Employee Relations
- Lead employee relations matters end-to-end, ensuring processes are handled seamlessly and escalating to the VP where appropriate.
- Coach managers through complex people issues and difficult conversations, ensuring a fair and consistent approach.
- Provide guidance on employment legislation, policy interpretation and HR best practice across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partner with Legal and specialist HR teams on complex or high-risk employee relations matters.
Talent, Development & Engagement
- Support recruitment activity in partnership with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers.
- Manage the delivery of performance management, talent review and learning and development programmes across the business.
- Foster a positive and inclusive culture through initiatives that encourage employee engagement and development.
International HR Operations
- Support the delivery of HR activities across the employee lifecycle, ensuring a high-quality employee experience.
- Partner with Payroll, HR Operations, Global Mobility, Immigration and other specialist teams to ensure HR processes are delivered accurately and efficiently.
- Review HR data, reporting and workforce metrics, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
- Support compliance with local employment legislation, company policies and governance requirements across multiple international locations.
- Oversee a flawless execution of international payroll and other HR transactional processes.
- Coordinate international workforce matters as needed, ensuring appropriate documentation and stakeholder management.
Freelancer & Workforce Governance
- Ensure governance and clear oversight of NBC News’ international freelance workforce.
- Partner with the HR Coordinator to ensure freelancer records, contracts, engagement data and reporting are maintained accurately and consistently.
- Provide guidance to managers on freelance engagement practices, workforce planning and contractual requirements.
- Support the implementation and ongoing management of freelance tracking and reporting.
- In partnership with the VP, HR and HR Coordinator, manage the implementation and adoption of a freelance management system.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching and development support to the HR Coordinator.
- Support continuous improvement of HR processes, systems and ways of working across the wider NBC News team.
- Collaborate with colleagues across NBCUniversal HR to share best practice and support wider people initiatives.

What We’re Looking For
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven HR manager/business partner experience within a fast-paced complex organisation – ideally in media or news.
- Strong employee relations experience in managing processes end-to-end, including investigations, performance management and manager coaching.
- Experience supporting organisational change, talent initiatives and workforce planning activities.
- Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice, with the ability to work effectively across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with confidence interpreting data and reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence at all levels.
- Confidence to work autonomously where needed and escalate issues appropriately.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing or developing junior HR team members is desirable.
- CIPD qualified (desired but not essential).
