Introduction to role:
Are you ready to turn scientific dialogue into real-world patient impact across your territory? Do you want to use your scientific credibility and business acumen to shape treatment pathways and inform brand strategy while staying close to the evidence?

As an MSL at AstraZeneca, you will build trusted scientific partnerships with Key External Experts and healthcare professionals, translating the latest data into meaningful insights and actions. You will be 60% field-based, engaging face-to-face across your territory and partnering closely with an office-based Medical Affairs Manager for your therapeutic area to connect scientific strategy with on-the-ground reality.

In this role, you will help align medical and commercial objectives without compromising on ethics—fueling our growth and enabling continued investment in research. Your work will ensure that the right data reaches the right stakeholders at the right time, improving decision-making and, ultimately, patient outcomes.

Accountabilities:
Scientific Exchange and Insight Generation: Conduct high-quality scientific discussions with KEEs and HCPs; gather and synthesize field insights to inform medical strategy and brand planning.
Therapeutic Area Mastery: Maintain up-to-date expertise on the TA, treatment paradigms, and competitor data through literature review, congress attendance, and expert engagement.
Account Plan Execution: Deliver medical components of account plans to time and budget, ensuring activities address identified gaps and opportunities.
Expert Partnership Development: Build deep, trust-based relationships with KEEs; map interests, identify collaboration opportunities, and support local practice change.
Evidence Discussion and Data Gap Identification: Present and discuss key data sets to uncover evidence gaps, patient pathways, and unmet needs aligned to TA strategy.
Scientific Events and Education: Initiate and co-create scientific events with KEEs; lead journal clubs and one-to-one scientific exchanges that elevate disease and therapy understanding.
Digital Medical Engagement: Produce compliant scientific digital content (e.g., newsletters, approved emails) as part of integrated medical plans to broaden reach and impact.
Field Intelligence and Internal Collaboration: Share actionable insights with cross-functional teams; contribute to the core strategic plan and educate key account managers and colleagues on disease and therapies.
Clinical Study and Early Access Support: Support AZ-sponsored clinical studies (site selection and initiation) and contribute to bridging/early access programs where relevant.
Externally Sponsored Research and Funding Stewardship: Manage ESRs, grants, donations, and third-party scientific sponsorships with rigor and transparency.
Real-World Evidence and Care Transformation: Identify partners, including KEEs and Sick Funds, to develop real-world data initiatives and care-improvement projects that enable local practice change.
Network and Best Practice Sharing: Collaborate with MSLs across countries and TAs to exchange best practices and continuously evolve the role.
Congress Participation: Attend national congresses and, as required, represent the TA at international meetings to bring back insights and strengthen external networks.
Medical Information and Documentation: Respond to medical information requests via approved platforms; document all interactions thoroughly and on time in the designated systems.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement: Complete all training; uphold AZ policies and external codes; seek feedback through training and joint field visits to refine communication and insight-gathering skills.

Essential Skills/Experience:
\- MD/PharmD/PhD/DVM or equivalent
\- Significant and robust experience with searching, handling, assimilating, synthesizing, reporting, and presenting scientific data in the healthcare sector
\- Quick self-learner, ability, and willingness to work in a team and independently.
\- National mobility and flexibility in attendance of local events outside of working hours
\- Ability to multitask effectively, demonstrate strong time management skills, and excel under pre-specified deadlines
\- Excellent relational and communication skills
\- Ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
\- Takes initiative and proactive were needed while conscious of compliance and process rules in the company
\- Presentation skills
\- Medical integrity and ethical balance
\- Fluent knowledge of English (verbal and written)

Desirable Skills/Experience:
\- Experience in and knowledge of pharmaceutical medical and marketing processes
\- Knowledge of therapeutic area. Broad employability in other TAs is an asset.
\- Experience in moderation of meetings with HCPs
\- Business Acumen
\- Proven Project management skills
\- Digital capabilities, experience in creating digital assets
\- Ability to rapidly shift between multiple projects and managing field-office workload
\- Experience in production of scientific events
\- Ability to distinguish between the main and the minor
