About Nscale
Nscale is the GPU cloud engineered for AI. We provide cost-effective, high-performance infrastructure for AI start-ups and large enterprise customers. Nscale enables AI-focused companies to achieve superior results by reducing the complexity of AI development. Our GPU cloud bolsters technical capabilities and directly supports strategic business outcomes, including cost management, rapid innovation, and environmental responsibility.
We thrive on a culture of relentless innovation, ownership, and accountability, where every team member takes pride in their work and drives it with excellence and urgency. As an Nscaler, you’ll build trust through openness and transparency, where everyone is inspired to do their best work. If you join our team, you’ll be contributing to building the technology that powers the future.
About the Role
Nscale is expanding fast, and Nordics are a key part of that growth. This role owns People Operations for the Nordic hub and, while based there, is a genuinely global role: the immediate mandate is to build a solid operational foundation globally and adapt to local specifics where applicable.
Your immediate priority is to take a hands-on approach: partner with the local People Partner and the global Payroll Team to stabilize time and attendance. You will also evaluate the introduction of new systems to support the hub, while ensuring Nordic operations comply with local employment laws and align with Nscale’s global People processes.
This is a start-up environment inside a fast-growing tech company, and much of the infrastructure needs to be built. That calls for a genuine start-up mentality paired with maturity and experience (5-8 years): someone who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves on day-to-day admin that isn’t yet automated and stepping back to design and drive the projects that will let it be automated. You won’t inherit a polished playbook - you’ll be building a large part of it.
To be successful in this role, you will need strong analytical skills, combined with a hands-on approach and the ability to execute operationally. You should have a genuine passion for operations, while broader HR generalist experience would be considered a valuable asset. Flexibility to travel within Nordics and Europe.
What You'll be Doing
- Time & Attendance: Partner with the local People Partner and the global Payroll team to diagnose and fix current issues in time and attendance, and put a stable, accurate process in place.
- Systems Implementation: Lead the introduction of new People systems and improvement of existing ones such as Workday for the Nordic hub, and globally.
- Managing employee lifecycle in line with local compliance: ensure the Nordic hub meets the employment law and local regulatory requirements, while aligning to Nscale’s global People processes wherever applicable, flagging and resolving conflicts between the two.
- Employee Relations: Support with ER where applicable whilst the function is built.
- Statutory Reporting: Manage statutory HR reporting requirements under Norwegian law (NAV).
- Nordics & Global Scope: Act as the on-the-ground People Operations owner for Nordic while contributing to Nscale’s broader Nordics expansion plans as a global team member, not a purely local function. The role involves resolving questions and problems globally and supporting quickly expanding hubs in the EMEA and North America.
- Hands-On Foundation Building: Own day-to-day People Operations admin that isn’t yet automated - don’t wait for the perfect system before doing the work - while actively identifying what should be streamlined or automated next.
- Project Involvement: Get involved in cross-functional People projects (systems, process design, compliance initiatives) alongside the day-to-day, building scalable structure as Nscale grows.
- Continuous Improvement: Build simple, practical processes and documentation now that make it easier to scale, automate, and hand off as the Nordic hub presence grow.
About You
- 5-8 years’ experience in People Operations, ideally including time in a fast-growing tech or start-up/scale-up environment.
- Genuine start-up mentality: willing to do hands-on admin and manual work before it’s automated, balanced with the maturity to know when and how to build something more robust.
- Experience working closely with Payroll, ideally on time and attendance or similar payroll-impacting processes.
- Track record of introducing or implementing new People systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Norwegian and Nordics employment law and compliance requirements, and the judgement to balance local requirements against global process consistency.
- Comfortable operating as part of a global People team, not just a local hub - this role has visibility and impact beyond Nordics.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to work effectively with local and global partners across People, Payroll, and the business.
- Holder of Norwegian social security/D number and fluent Norwegian
