Postdoctoral Fellow-MSH
Postdoctoral fellow on Data Visualization
A postdoctoral fellow position on data visualization in genomics research is available in the Gumus lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) in New York City. The person hired for this position, who will be mentored by Dr. Zeynep H. Gumus, will lead the development of interactive data visualization tools that present data in ways that are user-intuitive to help biomedical researchers explore large multi –omics datasets. The lab has several close collaborations with domain experts in cancer research, GI disease, immunology, as well as computer science.
We are currently accepting applications from talented people who have excellent programming and communication skills to join our group. Knowledge of genomics, statistics, epidemiology, and/or biomedicine is a plus, but not a requirement. The person who fills this position will be responsible for co-architecting, developing, configuring and operating data visualization portals and/or software. Some of the tools developed by our group in the past include ImmuneRegulation (immuneregulation.mssm.edu) and ProNetView (http://ccrcc.cptac-network-view.org/).
Individuals who are members of groups identified by the NIH as historically underrepresented in science are especially encouraged to apply. Interested individuals should send their CV and a brief description of their research interest in this position to Dr. Gumus.
Required training
The ideal candidate is driven, self-sufficient in coding, has excellent communication skills, enjoys teamwork and with a degree in computer science or related fields.
Compensation is commensurate with experience/education.
