Mission Engineer & Integrator
Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced Mission Engineer and Integrator to join our talented team of technical and business experts providing key operational and mission support to a SI/SETA mission for a customer in Virginia.
The ideal candidate possesses experience supporting mission planning and operational planning throughout the full lifecycle of customer-specific operations, from concept development through deployment, operations, and maintenance. Customer field experience and technical operational training are highly desirable.
Our multidisciplinary team provides operational support across Systems Engineering and Integration, Mission Planning, and Business Operations for multiple mission areas. The team is responsible for supporting technical design, operational execution, mission planning, and business operations associated with customer-specific capabilities throughout their lifecycle.
In this role, you will serve as a trusted Technical Advisor supporting critical SI/SETA activities, intelligence collection planning, and operational execution. You will act as the primary liaison between customers, stakeholders, technical development teams, and end users to ensure operational requirements are clearly defined, technical solutions meet mission objectives, and capabilities are successfully deployed and sustained.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Partner with Sponsor personnel to review, define, clarify, and document operational requirements.
- Analyze mission targets and collection requirements to identify appropriate technologies, systems, capabilities, and equipment.
- Support the development and refinement of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).
- Provide operational expertise throughout the development of new systems, capabilities, and collection technologies.
- Deliver tradecraft recommendations and operational best practices during mission planning and execution.
- Ensure technical and operational constraints are identified, communicated, and incorporated throughout planning and execution activities.
- Conduct trade studies utilizing operational feedback, testing and evaluation results, and intelligence reporting to develop recommendations for system improvements.
- Develop operational procedures, contingency plans, and troubleshooting guidance.
- Identify end-to-end capability gaps affecting system usability and operational effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Support pre-deployment checkout, testing, validation, deployment, post-deployment monitoring, and troubleshooting of operational systems and collection equipment.
- Monitor deployed system performance and provide technical recommendations to resolve operational issues.
- Generate, review, and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, test reports, technical notes, operational procedures, and supporting documentation for Technical Review Boards.
- Maintain organized digital documentation and ensure data integrity throughout project execution.
- Provide administrative support including meeting coordination, recording meeting minutes, tracking action items, documenting technical discussions, and maintaining project status.
- Coordinate meetings and technical activities involving geographically dispersed field locations.
- Support technical reviews, operational readiness activities, deployment planning, testing, training, and mission execution.
- Assist customers in evaluating technical developments and making informed mission and engineering decisions while balancing operational priorities and stakeholder interests.
- Manage multiple fast-paced technical efforts simultaneously while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary engineering, operational, and customer teams.
This position requires onsite support Monday through Friday and may require up to 25% travel based upon customer mission requirements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with a relevant polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience; master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience; or PhD with 3 years of relevant experience. Four additional years of applicable experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years supporting engineering efforts related to one or more of the following:
- Cyber operations
- Communications systems
- Supply chain operations
- Military asset tracking
- Deep-sea communications
- Experience supporting pre-deployment checkout of operational systems and equipment.
- Experience supporting deployment of collection systems and equipment.
- Experience performing post-deployment monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of operational systems.
- Experience working directly within a customer operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to create, review, and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, test reports, technical notes, and Technical Review Board documentation.
- Experience maintaining organized documentation repositories and ensuring technical data integrity.
- Experience providing administrative and project support, including meeting documentation, action item tracking, and project coordination.
- Experience coordinating technical meetings with geographically dispersed field locations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage complex technical efforts.
- Ability to successfully support multiple concurrent priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience and/or education supporting the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USPACOM) Area of Responsibility, including familiarity with the geopolitical, cultural, and operational environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with technical targeting methodologies.
- Experience conducting Intelligence Community Operation Readiness Exercises (OREs).
- Customer field operational experience.
- Customer technical operational training.
- Customer operational certifications.
- Deep historical and institutional knowledge of the customer mission and associated programs.
- STEM degree or technical background with emphasis in:
- RF Engineering
- Secure Communications
- Signal Analysis
- Experience developing executive-level briefing materials, technical presentations, and stakeholder communications.
- Experience supporting operations within a mission center environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex technical developments from planning through operational execution.
