The Position
Are you passionate about shaping the future of scientific research and diagnostic environments? As the Global Laboratory Workplace Expert, Sites Network, you will drive continuous improvement across our global laboratory environments to empower employees to innovate for patients. In this role, you will translate evolving scientific needs into sustainable, efficient, and inspiring workplace solutions that bring innovations to light faster and more cost-effectively.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will focus on demand assessment, lab infrastructure portfolio management, technical guidance, and global knowledge orchestration. Your key priorities will include:
Leading lab demand analysis across the site network portfolio, translating insights from scientific workflows and user feedback into robust, efficient space-allocation standards.
Driving lab infrastructure portfolio management by identifying, characterising, and solving space and technical gaps as a global network, aligning proposals with long-term corporate targets.
Facilitating the Global Laboratory Workplace Expert Panel, steering monthly collaborative meetings to align infrastructure solutions with corporate design principles.
Providing subject matter expertise in lab planning, proactively advising project teams during the early design phases of global laboratory facilities.
Orchestrating global knowledge sharing as a core member of the Global Lab Knowledge Hub to ensure best-in-class, sustainable solutions are documented and scaled across all sites.
Refining and championing the laboratory performance framework, partnering with local site teams to establish actionable benchmarks for efficiency, effectiveness, and environmental footprint reduction.
Who you are
You are a passionate, collaborative, and courageous expert who simplifies complexity and thrives on bringing people along on a journey of change. You excel at building immediate rapport with scientists and laboratory operations teams, blending deep technical empathy with the ability to constructively challenge user requests to achieve the best strategic outcome.
To succeed in this role, you bring the following qualifications:
Education & Experience: A University level degree (MSc or equivalent) in a scientific or technical field, combined with 8+ years of experience in laboratory design, facility strategy, and workspace planning within the life sciences sector.
Global Collaboration & Influence: Proven experience working within a complex, global organization, with a demonstrated ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders and local site teams without direct authority.
Systems Thinking & Analytical Skills: A strong "big-picture" perspective of global site networks, supported by solid proficiency in data analytics and visualization to track and measure progress against key environmental and performance indicators.
Communication, Languages & Travel: Excellent professional English language skills (written and spoken); basic German is a plus (with a commitment to learn), other languages are helpful, along with the flexibility to travel internationally up to 10%.
Resilience & Value-Orientation: An objective, critical perspective under pressure, driven by a genuine dedication to creating highly sustainable, efficient, and inspiring laboratory environments.
