We are hiring a Senior Solution Engineer  to strengthen technical leadership on a strategic financial services customer account. The role calls for strong fundamentals in cloud infrastructure with a particular focus on cloud and hybrid networking, ideally paired with Financial Services experience. As a senior individual contributor, the successful candidate acts as a trusted technical advisor to senior customer stakeholders, secures technical wins on the most complex opportunities, and shapes strategy across the account and the wider domain. This is an individual contributor position with no people-management responsibilities; leadership is exercised through technical influence, mentorship, cross-team orchestration, and thought leadership.

Proactively identifies and engages with key customer technical decision makers and influencers, using broad, in-depth industry and technical knowledge to build credibility and become sought after for expertise. Ensures technical wins on mega-deals, scales wins through partners in a sell-with environment to achieve consumption targets, and represents Microsoft at partners' executive level as a go-to resource within the domain. Generates compete strategies and develops strategic area and global responses to market and sector threats, aligning technology with customer needs, industry requirements, and standards.

Responsibilities

Scale Customer Engagement

  • Engages key customer technical decision makers and influencers (for example, C-level), partnering with the sales team to help lead sales strategy and acting as a sought-after trusted advisor on their cloud infrastructure and networking needs.

  • Ensures technical wins for mega-deals by leading cross-workload initiatives, establishing rules of engagement and handoff strategies, coaching technical sellers and account teams, and owning resolution of highly complex, escalated technical blockers.

Leverage Partner Ecosystems

  • Scales wins through partners in a sell-with environment to achieve consumption targets, representing Microsoft at the partners' executive level and growing partner technical capacity through ongoing engagement and new partnership opportunities.

Build Strategy

  • Generates new compete strategies, documents compete patterns for the global or area community, and acts as a subject matter expert on key competitors.

  • Develops area and global responses to market and sector threats, and works with account and marketing teams to shape strategic win and customer success plans aligned to customer needs and industry standards.

Solution Design and Proof

  • Leads highly complex demonstrations — architectural design sessions, proofs of concept, pilots, and hackathons — of end-to-end Microsoft solutions, positions them against competitors, and builds reusable reference architecture frameworks for the business.

  • Applies advanced sales methodologies such as challenger sales to lead customers through digital transformation, emphasising cloud infrastructure and networking modernisation.

Education and Thought Leadership

  • Acts as a technical thought leader by sharing best practices, delivering content at Microsoft events, and leading global or regional technical communities as a mentor, while building readiness plans that grow team capability.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience; or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid or on-premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management, with demonstrable depth in cloud and hybrid networking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Financial Services experience, including familiarity with regulatory and resilience requirements for financial market infrastructure.

  • Certification in relevant technologies or disciplines, for example Azure Architect and Development, Cloud Platform Technologies, networking, information security, or architecture.
