Black & McDonald is actively seeking a Job Cost Analyst in Kansas City, MO, responsible for providing timely cost and performance measurements while evaluating engineering projects from start to finish. The Job Cost Analyst works in conjunction with Project Managers and Engineering Managers to manage day-to-day costs of in-process engineering projects. He or she also provides financial analysis and reporting for financial matters such as investment portfolio and strategic business decisions.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Preparing financial documents for assigned projects outlining cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract performance.

• Establishing project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards with adherence to company policy and contract specifications.

• Planning, preparing, monitoring, and managing construction schedule and milestones.

• Establishing and maintaining automated cost tracking reports to monitor budgets against actual costs and forecasts (automation reporting)

• Ensuring work is performed in compliance with applicable standards – i.e. HSE regulations, company policies and procedures, and contract requirements

• Tracking budget, expenditures and contract terms for all subcontractors

• Assisting with change management support, including maintenance of project change log

• Leading subcontractor invoice review process, obtain approvals, track approval process and payment coordination

• Reviewing work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies

• Running profit recognition reports, preparing detailed variance analysis and evaluating to identify trends

• Providing financial analysis for ad-hoc matters such as investment portfolio and strategic business decisions.

• Preparing reports for management including reports within the financial dashboards

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

Experience with or academic exposure to:

• Financial modeling, valuation techniques, and risk analysis

• Development and use of automated financial dashboards and databases that provide management with real-time insights

• Financial statement analysis

• Automation of financial reporting to reduce manual errors and optimize workflows for budgeting and forecasting

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

MS degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or

BS degree in Finance, Accounting or related field and two years’ experience with budget analysis or management of project financials

  • 10% domestic US and Canada travel requirements
