Introduction

As an Aviation Inspector/Technician, you will perform inspections, maintenance, and upgrades of company-operated aircraft to ensure exceptional reliability and availability. You will also ensure compliance with all manufacturers, IBM, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) specifications.

Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct Aircraft Inspections: Perform inspections of company-operated aircraft to ensure proper operation in compliance with all manufacturers' specifications and maintain Airworthiness Compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's) and IBM Regulations.
  • Maintain Records: Maintain all necessary and appropriate records required by IBM SOP's and applicable FAR regulations, including Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Repair Station certificate.
  • Resolve Discrepancies: Work as a team to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure aircraft, ground support equipment, and tooling are in compliance with all manufacturers, IBM, and FAA specifications.
  • Perform Maintenance: Perform maintenance and upgrades of company-operated aircraft to ensure exceptional reliability and availability.

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a mid-level Aircraft Maintenance Technician/Crew Chief holding a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license with relevant experience on the same or equivalent aircraft types operated by our organization. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a compliance-driven aviation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft systems, including:
    • Airframe, engine, avionics, cabin, and communication systems
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues on installed aircraft systems
  • Utilize maintenance tracking and recordkeeping software
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including FAA, OSHA, airport, and company requirements
  • Communicate effectively with team members, lead technicians, inspectors, and management


Return to Service Authority

  • May be authorized to return aircraft to service after approval by the Chief Inspector
  • Return-to-service privileges are granted based on recommendations from lead technicians and the Maintenance Manager
Required education High School Diploma/GED Preferred education Bachelor's Degree Required technical and professional expertise
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience on comparable aircraft types
  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Aircraft Crew Chief experience


Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and platforms, including heights of 30+ feet
  • Comfort working in confined spaces
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions


Schedule & Availability

  • Must be flexible to work varied shifts, including rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends
  • This role may require missing family or personal events; however, every effort is made to support a healthy work‑life balance
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Familiarity with FAA Regulations: Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) specifications and Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's) related to aircraft maintenance and inspection is beneficial.
  • Exposure to Aircraft Systems: Familiarity with aircraft systems on same or similar aircraft, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Quality Control: Exposure to quality control procedures and identifying discrepancies in aircraft maintenance and inspection is desirable.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
