This role is responsible for ensuring product quality across welding and machine shop operations, maintaining compliance with internal standards and industry requirements, and driving a culture of quality and accountability. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in welding and machining processes, along with proven leadership in a manufacturing quality environment.What you’ll do:Lead and manage all quality functions for the Huron facility, including welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly operationsEnsure compliance with Terex quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry codes (AWS, ISO, etc.)Ensure compliance with welding quality requirements, including AWS D1.1, welder qualification, WPS adherence, and weld inspection standardsOversee machine shop quality through inspection processes, dimensional verification, GD&T interpretation, and process capability monitoringDevelop and implement quality plans, control plans, inspection methods, and control strategies for manufacturing processesLead root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) for quality issues, including weld defects and machining nonconformancesDrive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality (COPQ)Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and process capabilityLead internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory auditsDevelop, coach, and lead the quality team, including inspectors, technicians, and engineersMonitor and report key quality metrics such as first-pass yield, defect rates, and customer complaintsEnsure proper calibration of inspection equipment and adherence to measurement system standardsWhat you’ll bring:Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environmentStrong working knowledge of welding processes and AWS D1.1 standardsExperience with machine shop quality, including inspection techniques, GD&T, and precision measurement toolsDemonstrated experience leading root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiativesPreferred QualificationsAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent welding certificationExperience in heavy equipment, utility equipment, or truck body manufacturingCertification in Quality (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt)Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management SystemsExperience with robotic welding and automated machining processesKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong expertise in welding and machining quality systems and processesAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and weld symbolsEffective leadership and team development skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountabilityExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalProficiency in quality tools (FMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA)Work EnvironmentManufacturing environment with exposure to welding, machining, and assembly operationsRegular presence on the shop floor requiredUse of PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, and other required equipmentTravel...
