Patient Care Technician - Part Time, Days, AMG Primary Care, Totowa NJ
Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. May be asked to perform clerical administrative tasks such as scanning, scheduling, and checking patients in.
Principal Accountabilities:
Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.

Greeting patients: Welcoming patients to the facility and Scheduling appointments as needed.

Taking vital signs: (Height, weight, blood pressure, pulse)

Assisting with examinations: Working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks

Collecting and preparing laboratory samples: Instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood. Performing phlebotomy on a daily basis.

Performs POCT ( UA, Rapid Testing, Glucose Testing)

Performs EKGs

Prepping examination rooms: Ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment

Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required:
1. HS Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
1. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
2. Patient, compassionate nature
3. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians, nurses and medical assistants
4. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems such as EPIC
5. Clinical experience with skills such as taking vitals, rooming, and phlebotomy.
