Your New Role…

As a Producer in CNN's Political Unit, you will play a key role in shaping the network’s coverage of politics and elections across digital, linear and mobile platforms. 

You’ll drive high-level research and editorial guidance, pitch compelling story ideas, and produce premium reporting and multi-modal storytelling with a focus on the 2026 and 2028 elections. 

This fast-paced position demands meticulous accuracy and the ability to seamlessly balance breaking news with deep-dive projects. Beyond daily coverage, you will be one of the key editorial architects behind CNN’s signature political events, including town halls, presidential debates, and national party conventions.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Deliver detailed political research and analysis across CNN platforms to reporters, editors and producers
  • Review and fact-check stories, scripts, and on-screen graphics to ensure the absolute accuracy of political data and context.
  • Report on how Americans’ votes are cast and counted and how developments in redistricting and voting rights are shaping the political system, with the opportunity to cover broader political and campaign stories
  • Assist with research and editorial preparation for live special events, like candidate town halls, presidential debates and national political conventions.
  • Produce and package political content across CNN platforms using text, visual, data, video and digital storytelling tools.
  • Conduct original reporting and newsgathering to advance political and election-related coverage.
  • Collaborate across teams and platforms to develop engaging audience experiences for keystone political and election coverage
  • Partner with editorial leadership to plan major election milestones, generate fresh story ideas and distribute network-wide editorial guidance.

Your Qualifications & Experience...

  • 4+ years of experience in national or major media markets, with special consideration given to backgrounds in political reporting or news research.
  • Keen news judgment and a passion for political journalism
  • Experience with primary source reporting and electoral data (a plus)
  • Resilience and composure when working under tight deadlines in a high-stakes, 24/7 breaking news environment.
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to track and execute complex, long-term projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of journalistic standards, editorial practices, and legal considerations surrounding political reporting.
  • Dedication to precision and accuracy

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $44,100.00 - $81,900.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
