PB Coding Supervisor
Job Description:
Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the coding department including but not limited to: supervision of departmental caregivers, addressing coding issues/questions, overseeing QA audits, and identifying/participating in operational improvements within the coding department.Essential Functions
Navigate Epic EMR including applicable reports and work queues.
Primary oversight of daily coding functions including monitoring of Epic Coding WQs, in-basket messages, inpatient note report, and timely charge entry to monitor departmental KPIs (i.e. weekly goals, charge lag, etc.)
Participate in the interview process and onboard and orient new caregivers, participate in coaching of caregivers, and drafting and monitoring of corrective action plans, documentation of required touch bases.
Monitor staffing levels, coder productivity, quality assurance audits, and adherence to departmental protocols and guidelines.
Provide day-to-day support for coders including monitoring schedules/flex time, reviewing/approving timecards, ensuring adequate staffing levels, forecasting future resource needs, and action planning for areas outside of goal.
Collaborate with Coding Manger(s) and other departments as needed to meet Medical Group objectives and goals.
Adherence to departmental protocols.
Utilize organizational and departmental tools as applicable (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite products, Kronos, ServiceHub, Optum Encoder Pro, etc.).

Qualifications
Preferred - High school diploma or equivalent
Required - CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician)
Required – Demonstrated experience in professional fee coding, including Evaluation & Management (E/M) services
Preferred - Minimum of two (2) years of professional fee coding experience, coding for assigned specific specialty service lines, prior supervisory experience, and previous Epic experience
Physical Requirements
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
