Assistant Manager – Quality & CS
The Quality in charge is responsible for ensuring incoming raw material quality (IQC) and in-process / APU quality performance in an automotive connector manufacturing environment.
The role ensures adherence to customer requirements, IATF 16949 standards, and internal quality processes, while driving defect prevention, supplier quality alignment, and shopfloor quality control to meet zero-defect and QCD goals. Responsibilities
1. Incoming Quality (IQC) Management
•Lead and manage incoming inspection activities for raw materials, bought-out components, and supplier parts.
•Ensure inspection as per control plans, drawings, and specifications (mechanical, electrical, visual).
•Perform or validate:
oGRN inspection clearance / rejection
oSampling as per standards (AQL / customer requirement)
•Coordinate with purchase/supplier teams for quality concerns and rejections.
•Manage:
oSupplier defects, NCRs, and supplier corrective actions (SCAR)
oIncoming rejection trends and analysis
•Ensure full traceability, proper labeling, and segregation
2. APU / In-Process Quality Control
•Take ownership of quality performance within Assembly Production Unit (APU).
•Ensure adherence to:
oControl plans, SOPs, work instructions
oCustomer-specific requirements (CSR)
oProduct safety requirements.
•Monitor key parameters: First-pass yield (FPY) Rejections / scrap In-process defects
•Ensure implementation of:
oFirst-off / start-up approvals
oIn-process inspection and layered audits
•Drive immediate containment and corrective actions for quality deviations.
3. Defect Analysis & Continuous Improvement
•Lead root cause analysis (RCA)
•Drive corrective & preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring defects.
•Analyze data and trends to reduce: Internal rejection, Customer complaints, Supplier defects.
•Support continuous improvement initiatives like: Poka-Yoke & Lean / Kaizen activities
4. Supplier Quality Coordination
•Coordinate with supplier quality / procurement teams to ensure:
oQuality compliance of incoming parts
oTimely closure of supplier issues
•Support supplier audits and performance tracking.
•Drive improvement in supplier PPM and incoming quality trends.
5. Customer & Audit Compliance
•Ensure complete compliance with:
oCustomer specifications and requirements
oAutomotive standards (IATF 16949)
•Support:
oCustomer audits
oInternal audits (LPA, system audits)
•Maintain audit-ready documentation:
oInspection reports
oQuality records
oControl plans, PFMEA alignment
6. Team Supervision & Development
•Supervise and guide:
oIncoming quality inspectors
oShopfloor quality inspectors (APU quality team)
•Allocate manpower and ensure adequate inspection coverage.
•Train team members on:
oInspection methods
oMeasurement tools
oQuality systems and standards
•Ensure discipline and performance management of the quality team.
7. Measurement Systems & Documentation and ensure proper handling of rejected/defective materials.
