Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for an Shipping Coordinator 2 to join our Outbound Shipping Team based in Salt Lake City, UT.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Schedules shipments of materials and products with pre-approved transportation services.
  • Compiles and computes domestic freight rates and other charges for transportation services according to rate tables and tariff regulations.
  • Examines shipping bills to obtain description of freight and classifies freight according to rate book description.
  • Consults rate schedule to obtain specific rate for each item classified depending on method of shipment and/or distance shipped.
  • Traces shipments; calculates and records storage, redelivery, and other applicable charges; and may reroute shipments of an urgent nature; arrange for special delivery at destination.
  • May be required to select most economical and efficient common or contract carrier, such as air freight, railway freight, motor carrier, water carrier, or Postal Service to transport materials, tools and equipment, products, and other items to and from logistic and distribution centers, company plants, customers, subcontractors, or vendors.
  • Within parameters determines routing and arranges for shipment, considering such factors as nature of items being shipped, method of handling, size, urgency, and cost.
  • Perform a combination of manual and clerical duties which include verification, scheduling, packaging, and processing shipments of products through pre-approved transportation services and computer systems including domestic, freight, and Hazmat shipments.
  • Examine shipping documentation to obtain description and classification of freight to determine routing and arrange for shipment, considering such factors as nature of items being shipped, method of handling, size, schedule, and cost.
  • Examine domestic freight rates and other charges for transportation services and select most economical and efficient common or contract carrier for each item classified depending on the method of shipment and/or distance shipped.
  • Trace shipments, calculate and record storage, redelivery, and other applicable charges, and may reroute shipments of an urgent nature; arrange for special delivery at destination.
  • Follows principle and operating practices and procedures.
  • Use computer systems for tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or work experience.
  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 40 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and internet applications.
  • Good communication skills, detail oriented, strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills with the ability to work as a part of a team and independently.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience in processing international transportation/shipping activities.
  • Experience in processing HAZMAT material according to IATA/DOT regulations.
  • Experience using a pallet jack and driving equipment such as a forklift and box truck.
  • Current/Active Secret Clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $37,400.00 - $62,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
