You will join the Data Trust Capability in Capgemini’s Insights and Data (I&D) business unit. Insights & Data is a global business unit covering Enterprise Data Management, Cloud Platforms, Enterprise Content Management, Data Governance, AI & Analytics.

The Enterprise Data Management capability provides services across Data Governance, Data Strategy, Metadata Management, Master Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Quality and Data Products.


As organisations increasingly seek to unlock business value through semantic interoperability, knowledge-driven architectures and AI-enabled data platforms, we help our clients establish enterprise semantic foundations that enable trusted, reusable and interoperable data assets.


This role will be primarily focused on delivering the Semantic Layer Programmes, supporting the development of supporting the design and adoption of enterprise ontologies, semantic standards, controlled vocabularies and knowledge graph capabilities across complex client environments.

The Focus Of Your Role

 

We are seeking an experienced Semantic Governance Managing Consultant to define, govern and industrialise enterprise semantic assets that underpin Data Standards, Controlled Vocabularies, Data Contracts, Semantic Data Products and Knowledge Graph implementations.

This is a senior client-facing leadership role requiring deep technical expertise in ontology engineering, semantic technologies and knowledge representation, combined with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and facilitate consensus across business and technology teams.

The successful candidate will act as the semantic governance lead across the programme, ensuring semantic consistency, interoperability and reuse across manufacturing sites, data domains and digital platforms.

The Semantic Governance Managing Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Defining, developing and maintaining enterprise ontologies that support enterprise data domains.
  • Establishing and governing Controlled Vocabularies, Taxonomies, Business Glossaries and Semantic Standards.
  • Designing reusable semantic models that support Knowledge Graph, Semantic Data Product and Data Contract initiatives.
  • Applying ontology engineering methodologies and semantic modelling best practices across the enterprise.
  • Curating and governing ontology assets through agreed standards, design patterns, lifecycle processes and governance controls.
  • Driving semantic interoperability between systems, platforms, products and business functions.
  • Facilitating workshops with business SMEs, architects, data owners and governance stakeholders to establish common definitions, terminology and semantic alignment.
  • Supporting the implementation of enterprise semantic architectures across modern data platforms, including Snowflake, Databricks and associated metadata ecosystems.
  • Collaborating closely with manufacturing SMEs, solution architects, data engineers and governance teams to ensure enterprise-wide consistency and reuse of semantic assets.
  • Providing leadership on ontology lifecycle management, metadata management and semantic governance frameworks.
  • Supporting Knowledge Graph implementation programmes through semantic modelling, ontology design and standards adoption.
  • Contributing thought leadership in the areas of semantic technologies, ontology engineering, knowledge representation and AI-enabled semantic ecosystems.
  • Mentoring internal teams and supporting the growth of Capgemini's semantic data management capability.

As a Semantic Governance Managing Consultant, you will bring over 10 years of extensive experience in ontology engineering, semantic technologies, knowledge management, and enterprise data modelling, with a strong track record of driving semantic excellence across large organizations.


Key Experience:

  • Partnering with C-suite executives and senior leaders across diverse industries and enterprise functional areas.
  • Engaging with Business Units, Enabling Functions, and Corporate Functions to establish and promote a culture of semantic and data excellence.
  • Designing, implementing, and governing enterprise-wide ontologies and semantic frameworks.
  • Delivering Knowledge Graph solutions and semantic data models at enterprise scale.
  • Facilitating workshops with business SMEs and senior stakeholders to define enterprise concepts, business terminology, and shared definitions.
  • Leading large, geographically distributed teams within complex global delivery environments involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Managing medium to large-sized teams and driving high-performing delivery organizations.


Technical Expertise:

  • Deep hands-on experience with:
  • OWL (Web Ontology Language)
  • RDF (Resource Description Framework)
  • SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System)
  • SHACL (Shapes Constraint Language)
  • Semantic Web standards and technologies
  • SPARQL, Linked Data


Experience developing, managing, and governing:

  • Controlled Vocabularies
  • Taxonomies
  • Business Glossaries
  • Semantic Standards


Knowledge and Domain Expertise Strong understanding of:

  • Semantic Interoperability
  • Metadata Management
  • Ontology Lifecycle Management
  • Knowledge Representation Principles
  • Data Governance Frameworks


Tools and Platforms: Hands-on experience with leading Knowledge Graph and semantic technology platforms, including:

  • Neo4j
  • Stardog
  • GraphDB
  • AWS Neptune


Experience with Metaphacts is highly desirable and considered an advantage.
