Staff Embedded Software Engineer

Vocera now a part of Stryker looking for 6 to 8 years experience Embedded Staff Software Engineer with strong expertise in C and C++ development on Linux. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Wi‑Fi, CAN, and CANopen protocols. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations to design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software for connected devices, contribute to architecture and requirements, troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues, and support product releases and lifecycle activities. Strong communication skills, a problem‑solving mindset, and the ability to work independently and in distributed teams are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and test embedded software solutions using the Linux operating system.

  • Collaborating with hardware engineers to understand system requirements and specifications

  • Work with other developers to ensure the development of best possible future proof products to meet the cost, time, quality, and business needs.

  • Develop deep understanding of existing product architectures.

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to bring in best Engineering practices and processes.

  • Debugging and troubleshooting software and hardware issues in embedded systems.

  • Participating in code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.

  • Documenting software designs, specifications, and other project related documents.

  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in Software Development

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of total professional software engineering experience.

  • Proven experience in embedded systems owning complete SDLC.

  • Strong knowledge on CAN, CANOpen, Wi-Fi and MQTT systems

  • Knowledge on Device Certificate Management

  • Software development in C, C++ and Data structures.

  • Experience with Eclipse IDE/VS Code for software development in Linux.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and debug complex issues.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Bachelor’s/master’s degree in Electronics and Communication, Embedded system, Electrical /Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Medical Domain is an added advantage

  • Complete understanding of Embedded system HAL, Memory Management and BSP drivers.

  • Expertise in Linux IPC’s

Travel Percentage: 10%
