We are seeking a Shop Floor Application Engineer (IT/OT) to serve as the technical bridge between Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments. This role is responsible for ensuring the secure, reliable, and efficient integration of manufacturing systems, industrial networks, and business applications. The position supports plant operations, digital transformation initiatives, cybersecurity compliance, and continuous improvement efforts across production facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support IT/OT connectivity solutions.
- Integrate manufacturing systems with enterprise applications, including ERP, MES, SCADA, Historian, and data analytics platforms.
- Support data collection, visualization, and reporting initiatives.
- Manage and troubleshoot industrial networks, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
- Maintain OT infrastructure, including servers, virtual environments, and industrial PCs.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of plant systems.
- Support manufacturing and automation environments, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, and related systems.
- Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in planned shutdowns, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
- Implement and maintain OT cybersecurity controls in accordance with corporate standards and industry frameworks.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and support remediation activities.
- Maintain system documentation, asset inventories, and network diagrams.
- Support site digitalization and modernization projects.
- Develop technical requirements, test plans, and implementation strategies.
- Coordinate with vendors, system integrators, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing IT, OT, automation, or industrial systems.
- Ability to work fully on-site in Kinston, NC.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, pharmaceutical, chemical, food and beverage, or similar operational environments preferred.
- Industrial networking and infrastructure.
- Windows Server environments and virtualization technologies.
- SCADA, MES, Historian, and manufacturing systems.
- PLC and automation technologies.
- Cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of ISA/IEC 62443, NIST, or similar frameworks preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.
