  • Support MongoDB Atlas and cloud-hosted MongoDB environments with a strong focus on performance, availability, monitoring, and automation.
  • Analyze and optimize MongoDB performance across query execution, indexing, memory usage, I/O, schema design, and data modeling.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve application-database interaction patterns and ensure scalable, high-performing database solutions.
  • Apply SRE principles to database operations, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems.
  • Build and improve observability dashboards, monitoring, alerting, and operational insights using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, or similar platforms.
  • Automate database operational tasks such as monitoring, patching, provisioning, configuration management, and recurring maintenance activities.
  • Support secure, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective cloud database operations across AWS, Azure, GCP, or MongoDB Atlas environments.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Engineering, Database, and Security teams to ensure reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to knowledge sharing, standards, documentation, and continuous improvement in database reliability and performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, Database Engineer, or similar role.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with MongoDB administration, performance tuning, and scaling.
  • Strong understanding of MongoDB internals, indexing, query optimization, replication, sharding, backups, and high availability.
  • Experience working with MongoDB Atlas or cloud-hosted MongoDB environments.
  • Experience applying SRE practices to database operations, including monitoring, incident response, reliability improvement, and automation.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Technical Expertise

  • Expert-level experience with MongoDB administration, MongoDB Atlas, replica sets, sharding, indexing, backups, and performance tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of MongoDB performance engineering, query optimization, schema design, data modeling, capacity planning, and benchmarking.
  • Experience with cloud-native database operations across AWS, Azure, GCP, and MongoDB Atlas.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of SRE practices, SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, centralized logging, configuration management, and automation for database operations.
  • Understanding of security, compliance, high availability, disaster recovery, and operational reliability for enterprise database platforms.
