This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

The Domain Architect for ERP Value Stream Demand to Pay is a senior, pivotal role embedded directly within the Enterprise Platforms, Infrastructure & Engineering (EPIE) ERP function. You will champion our enterprise architecture practices while possessing an expert understanding of the unique systems and processes that drive the comprehensive landscape of Roche's global procurement, including strategic sourcing, supplier lifecycle management, and overarching Demand to Pay (D2P) operations

Positioned at the critical intersection of enterprise strategy and product-level execution, you act as the catalyst that turns high-level architectural vision into tangible reality. Crucially, you will serve as the principal orchestrator of the Solution and System Architecture network within the ERP Demand to Pay space. By leading this network of embedded architects and collaborating closely with the other ERP and non-ERP Domain Architects, you will drive local architecture governance, ensure enterprise coherence, and translate business goals into robust, adaptable, and future-ready technology solutions.

Description of the Area

The ERP Value Stream Demand to Pay area is responsible for ensuring that IT strategies are deeply integrated into the assigned business units to improve efficiency, ensure compliance, and drive innovation in how we procure globally. This involves deep integration with engineering teams across ERP Value Stream Demand to Pay (ERP Source to Procure, ERP Accounts Payables, ERP Manage Suppliers, ERP D&P Data Analytics and ERP Travel & Expense).

This architectural role ensures that overarching RDT and ERP visions are effectively translated into these Demand to Pay areas seamlessly, collaboratively, and highly effectively.

Job Responsibilities

  • Solution Architecture Network Orchestration: Serve as the primary leader and orchestrator of the System and Solution Architecture network within the Demand to Pay sub-domains. Align and coordinate the work of the embedded architects, ensuring a cohesive community that moves fast with local autonomy while remaining aligned through shared principles and platforms.

  • Strategic SPG Collaboration & Bridging: Act as the vital architectural link between your operational area and the central Strategy, Portfolio & Governance (SPG) organization. Partner closely with the SPG Domain Architects to ensure that enterprise-level capability maps, maturity assessments, and target-state blueprints are practically translated into your area's execution roadmaps.

  • Critical Program Delivery & ERP Success: Champion the seamless execution of large, critical technology programs within the procurement, supplier lifecycle management, and strategic sourcing space (e.g., ASPIRE SAP deployments). Actively bridge the gap between high-level strategy and technical execution, providing the architectural oversight needed to ensure transformative initiatives achieve their intended business value.

  • Local Architecture Governance Leadership: Provide leadership for architecture governance activities across the Demand to Pay landscape, executing this in being a member of ERP Cross Architecture Authority. High-Level Solution Designs and Solution Outlines: Manage technology guardrails, and ensure that local initiatives embed critical non-functional requirements (security, resilience, GxP compliance) without creating unnecessary bottlenecks.

  • Sub-Domain Architecture Deliverables: Take overall accountability for the development and maintenance of core architecture artifacts for the procurement areas. Ensure solution designs are fit for purpose, compliant with quality standards, and aligned with overarching enterprise standards. Proactively own and manage technical debt by identifying opportunities for refactoring or modernization within the ERP landscape.

  • Technology Innovation & Vendor Evaluation: Assess emerging technology trends specifically relevant to modern ERP and procurement in general. Stay abreast of portfolio and technology developments from key vendors (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, BTP, GEP) to ensure our architectural runway remains effective, nimble, and future-proof.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience in IT and architecture.

  • Deep experience with global ERP Strategic Sourcing and Category Management, ERP Procurement and Contract Management, ERP Supplier Sustainability and Risk, ERP Supplier Quality and Compliance, ERP Procurement Compliance and Documentation, and ERP Spend & Procurement Visibility.

  • Demonstrated mastery as an Architect specializing in SAP ERP environments. Significant background in orchestrating complex ERP architectures across diverse modules and ensuring seamless integration with edge business applications.

  • Proven track record operating as a Domain or Lead Solution Architect in a complex, matrixed, or federated organization, ideally within a regulated (GxP) industry.

Functional & Technical Skills

  • Expertise in designing High-Level Solution Designs, managing technical debt, and driving modernization efforts within the ERP and procurement business domain.

  • Strong expertise across SAP S/4HANA Lines of Business (LoBs), specifically Sourcing & Procurement (MM), Supply Chain / Inventory Management (IM), Sales (SD), and Finance (FI/CO).

  • Comprehensive proficiency in SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and SAP Fiori UX, backed by deep expertise in enterprise middleware, integration technologies (SAP Integration Suite / CPI, MuleSoft), and Master Data Management (MDM).

  • Enterprise & Agile Architecture: Strong foundation in TOGAF, LeanIX, and Agile Architecture methodologies to drive modern digital transformations and governance.

  • Solid understanding of architecture frameworks and modern digital platforms relevant to global procurement and D2P operations (SAP ecosystems, data integration platforms, cloud architecture, and traceability solutions).

  • Experience applying adaptable delivery methodologies and frameworks where they make practical sense to drive value, rather than strictly adhering to rigid processes.

  • Strong analytical skills with a pragmatic focus on outcome-driven, sustainable solutions.

Leadership & Orchestration Skills

  • Network Orchestration: Demonstrated ability to orchestrate, influence, and lead federated networks of System and Solution Architects where direct reporting lines may sit elsewhere. Possesses an inspiring and empowering style, enabling a diverse group of technical partners to align and speak with a single voice.

  • Collaboration & Bridging: Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, capable of simplifying complex architectural concepts. Proven ability to successfully navigate and bridge the need for enterprise coherence with the agility and autonomy of local product execution.
