General Summary:
Join Qualcomm’s Audio Systems Group and contribute to the development of advanced haptics technologies for Mobile phones, Wearables, Compute, XR, and IoT devices. You will work with experts in hardware systems, audio systems, signal processing, and control systems to create innovative haptics solutions that are deployed on industry-leading Snapdragon platforms. The role spans research, prototyping, validation, tuning, commercialization, and technology roadmap development, offering opportunities to contribute to patents, publications, and world-class products.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop innovative control systems and signal processing algorithms for Smart Haptics to deliver crisp, immersive, and low-latency user experiences.
* Design and conduct experiments to characterize actuators and derive metrics relevant to haptics performance and user interface experiences.
* Drive analog and digital hardware design, including haptics interfaces and actuator control solutions.
* Tailor algorithms for specific use cases and integrate them into reference designs in collaboration with software and systems engineers.
* Define technology roadmaps and drive competitive analysis for next-generation haptics solutions.
* Drive end-to-end HW/SW system design, development, prototyping, validation, and commercialization of haptics technologies.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable technologies on Snapdragon platforms and customer devices.
* Work effectively in geographically distributed and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Communicate technical results and recommendations to engineering, business, and leadership stakeholders.
Requirements
* R&D experience in closed loop design, excursion or thermal compensation algorithms for speaker amplifiers or actuators.
* Strong background in electroacoustics, control systems, and signal processing.
* Experience with speaker amplifiers, actuators, electromechanical systems, and modelling.
* Proficiency in designing, prototyping, and implementing electromechanical models.
* Knowledge of lumped element models of LRAs and haptics actuators.
* Experience in closed-loop feedback control system design.
* Hands-on experience in signal processing, machine learning, and hardware/software co-design.
* Strong programming skills in MATLAB, C/C++, and Python.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with haptics drivers, and actuator control systems.
* Exposure to mixed-signal hardware design and embedded systems development.
* Knowledge of robotics, control theory, and advanced mechatronic systems.
Educational Qualifications
* Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
