Texas Instruments (TI) is looking for an experienced Facilities Control Engineer to join our team. As a Facilities Engineer at TI, you'll be directly responsible for building utility systems in support of a semiconductor wafer fab. TI Facilities operates over 150 different utility systems that include chemicals, gasses, variety of electrical systems, water systems, HVAC, waste, vacuum, and controls. These systems are designed to run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without interruption, creating a state of the art manufacturing environment. Facilities works closely with TI's manufacturing team to understand how the utility systems impact the process as well as how to reduce consumption.

Job Description:

Support facilities mechanical s& control systems operations for TI's semiconductor manufacturing site as Controls Systems Owner with the following responsibilities:

  • Own and manage controls and monitoring systems including:
  • PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • SCADA systems such as Wonderware, etc, Screens, tags, trends, and reporting
  • Facilities network and SCADA servers
  • Alarm management system and related instrumentation
  • Perform alarm rationalization — review, prioritize, and optimize alarm setpoints and descriptions to reduce nuisance alarms and improve response
  • Lead & support system owners with alarm troubleshooting, PLC troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of system upsets
  • Lead & Support troubleshooting of transmitters and sensors (temperature, pressure, flow, humidity, level) including calibration and replacement coordination

 

  • Provide controls support for facilities mechanical utility systems such as:
  • Compressed Dry Air (CDA) / compressor systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Bulk gas systems
  • Process Vacuum (PVAC) systems

 

  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process system owners to ensure controls integration and reliable operations
  • Work out and execute controls project roadmap and systems improvement initiatives
  • Design, specify, and manage capital/expense projects for controls upgrades and new installations
  • Manage contractors and vendors for controls scope of work, bidding, and commissioning
  • Develop, review, and maintain SOPs and control philosophy documentation for owned systems
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain servers and network up time
  • Manage technical, financial, and schedule aspects of controls projects
  • Provide training and support for technicians.
  • Ensure all work complies with TI ESH standards, work permits, and related codes
  • Respond quickly to system alarms and critical situations, performing rapid and accurate troubleshooting

     

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical / Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, or equivalent engineering background
  • 5 years or more experience with industrial controls systems in a semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • SCADA systems such as Wonderware, etc
  • Alarm rationalization and alarm management
  • Working knowledge of mechanical utility systems: CDA/compressors, HVAC, bulk gas, PVAC
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation: DI, DO, AI, AO, temperature, pressure, flow, RTD, transmitters, solenoid, modulating, electronic, pneumatic
  • Familiarity with PLC programming languages and common PLC hardware platforms
  • Experience managing controls projects from scope through commissioning
  • Ability to coordinate multiple design disciplines across a variety of projects

 

Skills / Certifications:

  • Prior experience in a semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing facility strongly preferred
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communicates effectively verbally and written in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Demonstrate leadership and project management skills, including organizational, time management and priority setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and AutoCAD
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and drive for results
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong safety leadership
  • Independent, self-motivated, and ambitious of unquestionable personal professional integrity
