About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing Finance team. Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be an integral part of a small team of four. To thrive at Smarkets, you will need to be open-minded, personable, and have a keen eye for detail, with the ability to analyze and communicate insights from data.
What you will do:
Prepare and process AP invoices
Review and reconcile bank statements on a regular basis to ensure accuracy
Perform AP balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
Review and manage open Purchase Orders
Ensure all supplier accounts are reconciled against supplier statements
Schedule and process payments per company policy
Manage vendor payment queries
Process staff expenses and approvals
Monitor daily cash flows, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operations
Provide weekly and monthly reports to regulated gaming authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations
Support monthly Management Accounts and journal entries
Assist with financial audits
Role Requirements:
Proficiency in Excel
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent organisational skills
A strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
A methodical and focused approach to working in a fluid and flexible work environment
Good communication skills
1+ years of public practice experience
Experience with Light Inc. accounting software is desirable
Experience with working with auditors - desirable but not essential
Part-qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) - desirable but not essential
Degree in Accounting or related business field - desirable but not essential
Have worked or are curious to work in an agile, start-up like environment
Have experience or are keen to work in a multi-disciplinary team/across different teams
