Overview The Cloud Operations Engineer works as part of the team charged with ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the ECI Cloud, and is an integral part of ECI�s success. This is a product facing role that will work and collaborate closely with business analysts, architects, peer engineers and Site Reliability Engineers for planning, development, and implementation of solutions for various systems. Responsibilities Provide daily operational support for Windows-based production systems including IIS web tiers and MS SQL Server databases; respond to incidents and customer-impacting events in a 24/7 environment. Follow runbooks for data refresh and application upgrades Troubleshoot and remediate IIS issues (app pool crashes, HTTP 5xx/4xx errors, TLS/SSL certs) and manage website deployments and rollbacks per runbooks. Administer MS SQL Server tasks: run/monitor backups, restore databases, manage SQL Agent jobs, review job failures, and run targeted queries for troubleshooting. Operate and maintain Azure VMs and NSGs: provision VMs, apply security group rules, perform redeploys/reimages, and troubleshoot connectivity to VNets and on-prem systems. Execute incident response: triage alerts, escalate appropriately, coordinate with dev/product teams, and document troubleshooting steps in Jira and runbooks. Automate repetitive tasks using PowerShell (service restarts, log collection, scheduled backups validation), reducing manual work and improving consistency. Perform routine maintenance: Windows patching, disk space management, log rotation and retention, and account/permission management on file shares. Monitor telemetry and alerts, tune notifications to reduce noise, and escalate actionable alerts to senior ops/SRE as needed. Support DR/BCP activities including periodic restore tests and documentation of recovery steps. Preferred Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022): services, event logs, patching, disk management, file systems (NTFS/SMB), Group Policy basics IIS administration: website/app pool configuration, bindings, SSL certs, troubleshooting HTTP errors, logging Microsoft SQL Server: backups/restores, SQL Server Agent jobs, basic T-SQL, performance troubleshooting, maintenance plans Azure: Virtual Machines (VM provisioning, VM extensions), Network Security Groups (NSGs), Virtual Networks (VNets), Azure Portal/CLI, Azure Monitor / Log Analytics Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, routing basics, firewall rules, port troubleshooting, packet capture fundamentals Automation & Scripting: PowerShell (task automation, scheduled tasks, service management), basic Git usage Observability & Incident: monitoring, alert triage, runbooks, on-call support, Jira/ITSM ticketing File manipulation & permissions: NTFS permissions, SMB shares,...
