The AI Fluency Manager leads Ferguson's AI adoption and capability-building efforts by overseeing the strategy, development, and execution of enterprise AI learning programs, including the AI Ambassador Program. This role is responsible for building the training, engagement, and community frameworks that help associates confidently use AI to drive business impact across the organization. As a key member of Ferguson's AI transformation team, the AI Fluency Manager will help establish and scale AI enablement. Initially, this role will directly lead both AI fluency and ambassador program activities, transitioning to people leadership as dedicated team members are added. This position is expected to manage at least two direct reports in the near term, including the AI Ambassador Program Owner and AI Fluency Program Manager, while continuing to shape the long-term vision for AI learning, adoption, and engagement across Ferguson.

Location: This is a Hybrid role based out of our HQ location in Newport News, VA, in accordance with our Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for Ferguson's AI fluency programs, spanning awareness, literacy, capability, and mastery levels across associate segments
  • Recruit, develop, and support the AI Ambassador Program and Network across functions and geographies, including near-term ownership of Ambassador Program Owner responsibilities
  • Design and maintain the AI Fluency Training strategy in partnership with Ferguson Academy, leaning on Microsoft (Copilot) and Google (Gemini) for tool-specific content while keeping Ferguson-specific fluency in-house
  • Own internal storytelling for AI adoption — build and manage the AI Success & Wins repository and amplify wins in language that resonates with Ferguson's culture
  • Partner with leaders and AI Ambassadors to surface use cases and drive grassroots adoption at the point of work
  • Perform AI Fluency Program Manager functions in the near term — cohort scheduling, licensing coordination for training participants, AI tooling expansion training, etc.  
  • Support role-based AI playbooks (prompt libraries by role, etc.) in partnership with business experts and functional leads
  • Track and report on fluency program participation, engagement, and Ambassador Network health for AI Council and leadership updates
  • Represent Adoption & Enablement in cross-functional planning on fluency, training, and adoption strategy

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5-7 years in learning & development, community/program management, or guiding organizational transitions
  • Prior people-management experience, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and developing direct reports
  • Demonstrated success building and running a grassroots network, community, or champion/ambassador program at scale
  • Experience designing enterprise-wide learning programs that measurably changed how people work
  • Strong facilitation, storytelling, and internal communications skills
  • Comfortable working across long-term planning, hands-on day-to-day execution, and people leadership simultaneously
  • Track record working with frontline and distributed populations, not solely corporate headquarters
  • Experience using enterprise AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, or Claude preferred.
  • Comfortable representing AI Enablement leadership in cross-functional and executive settings.
  • Strong business judgment, discretion, and professional maturity.
  • Naturally proactive and solution-oriented in evolving, less-defined environments.

Desired:

  • Direct experience with AI/ML tool adoption or enterprise AI platform rollouts
  • Familiarity with Organizational Change Management frameworks (Kotter, ADKAR, Bridges)
  • Experience partnering with L&D/training organizations, including train-the-trainer models
  • Experience forming a team from the ground up, including writing job descriptions and interviewing

Pay Range:

$8,233.34 - $13,175.00

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
